Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That is very interesting. It does not look like the way my Shin Ryoku looks. Yours appears much more blue. Mine is on the green side of the fence.

Perhaps nibs and paper are making an influence? Mostly I use Shin in a Cross F nib (which is like a thin M) and on inexpensive papers.

Very interesting.

Regards,

Be Happy, work at it. Namaste

The same goes for my bottle of Shin Ryoku. It sits much closer to the green side after drying. It goes on a blue-ish green but then dries to what I would call a nice true green. These scans actually look much more like my Sheaffer Green than my Shin Ryoku.

It does look like Sheaffer green.

I have the same experience. It is just "green". It does show some blue hues when wet, it is subtle, but after it dries, it is green-meh. I loaded a pen that I didn't rinse after using Diamine Soft Mint, and it loaned some of its blue tint to Shin Ryoku. Now I'm loving it. It reminds me exactly of green pine needles that show a hint of blue depending on the light and angle.

Compared to most of the greens I use (Irish Green, Gruene Cactus Eel, PR Sherwood), Shin-ryoku does lean blue in my eyes. My bottle looks pretty similar to Amber's scans.

So many inks, so little time...

I wonder if it would look substantially different in a thinner nib. I really like the ink.

This is the ink in a Japanese Extra fine, and on Tomoe River paper, which in my opinion gives the best representation for any inks true colour; that being said, the lighting could have been better and like many of my pictures, this was quite hasty.

As you may be able to tell, it doesn't lean as much to the blue side of things as that picture does and in real life it looks even less blue to me.

And well, if you like the ink colour as represented by the scan more than the one in my picture, then you should try using Sheaffer Green in a finer nib. It looks like your scans even on a finer nib.

All four fills looked really blue in person. This was a sample so it is possible that the color was slightly contaminated.

Two years ago, FPNer Shawndo, purchased every blue ink sample Goulet's had to offer.

Alas, Shawndo ran out of free inky time. I agreed to do these reviews. So here we are.
