Please Dont Tell Me I Got A Lemon....

Hello friends,

Just got a brand new, never used Montblanc 145 Hommage Chopin in medium nib.

I was really excited since I got it for a good price. It has everything, cd, manual and box.

And while inspecting it, I did see the following:

-serial number

-Germany on the clip band

-Pix on the back of the clip

-even used a flashlight and saw that it has that deep ruby red color

When I got home, I pulled out my geniune and authentic 145 75th Chopin Special Edition and noticed the this...there is an extended sleeve/ring on the 75th anniversary compared to the one I just recently got...

Thanks!

Sorry but isn't the Hommage and 75th Edition two complete different pens.

I agree! but Im thinking that the difference should only be on the outside of the fountain pen. they are both 145 and should they be the same on the inside? Kindly correct me if Im wrong.

Cheers.

Hi littlepen and vik,

Deep inside I know the Hommage is real, everything is what it should be.

I also googled pictures of the Hommage but didnt see anything showing the

extended sleeve. Im just a little bothered by it thats why I wanted some

confirmation. Oh and vik, since being bit by this 'MB' bug, I have one word for you...

Pawnshops! :D

Cheers!

Hi

You could be seeing production changes.

Have a look at the bottom of the feed, is there a notch, if there is then its genuine as the notch is not replicated in any fake 145 (yet)

Is the converter a screw in type or push in.

I have seen these pens on a well known fake MB site and theirs included box and CD as well, not saying yours is a fake though.

I did see a pic that had the same section as the 75th as well. I seem to recall some talk about one of the smaller pens cracking at the barrel threads when assembling, so the longer sleeve was introduced to help with that. Too long ago, and I am not a MB collector. I just have a few vintage and an older 146 (I found for $100 in an antique store) I use.

Some people say they march to a different drummer. Me? I hear bagpipes.

Hi Paul, yes there is a notch at the bottom of the feed exactly as the 75th anniversary. it also has the letter "D" in the tip of the feed.

the converter is a screw type same as the 75th. I think you are right that this may have been a production change.

Thanks,

Hi Andrew, the links that you provided is really helpful. first link is almost the same as mine, only difference is the c/c on mine is not transparent but

like smokey black. The second link is the same as my 75th anniversary. Thanks!

The first link provided is a fake. The converter is the well known transparent chinese fake.

As for your Hommage, I am more inclined to believe that it is real, then your 75th. I have never seen the extended sleeve before.

However, going by the converters, both are genuine montblanc converters, so both should be genuine. You could send an email to Montblanc to verify both of your pens are original, which I am sure they are. Montblanc is really helpful.

Enjoy your genuine pens!

Hi NHsueh, thanks for your info. I am actually on the other side of the fence :D

I am 100% sure my 75th with the extended sleeve with a diamond on the extra band on the cap is real.

Its the hommage that Im a little puzzled since there is no extended sleeve. But as Paul has posted above, this maybe a production variation.

Thanks!

Is it possible that someone might buy a cheap converter for their genuine MB pen?

the question should be...would someone buy an original convertor for their fake pen...to sell it off as original ?
