Declaration Of Love To De Atramentis Inks

Hello FP-Lovers for about a year now I have revived my love for fountain pens. After learning to write in a Dutch primary school with a Pelikan pen Iˋve also used a fountain pen during my time in the school for Nurses in Innsbruck (I´m a 41 years old Dutchman who followed his love and changed his job in Austria. I have been a registered nurse for 1,5 Years now)The nursing part is of some interest because it, sort of brought me in contact with De Atramentis Inks.As I was one day filling out a report with a Doctor, the doctor mentioned that it is forbidden to write with fountain pens because the ink could be erased. I was pretty depressed after hearing that but then I started thinking. If the notary and even presidents write with fountain pens there should be sunshine behind the clouds of my depression-.I disovered De Atramentis Dokument Tinte (Dokument Ink) in the Internet and immediately telephoned the owner, Dr. Franz-Josef Jansen from Hachenberg in Germany. Dr Jansen is an Inkophile who took a lot of time explaining the do and don´ts of ink and fountsin pens. I bought 2 bottles of Dokument Ink with which I am very satisfied with because it is smooth and unerasable.I was so happy being able to write with fountain pens at word that I posted a nice comment under a review od De Atramentis Document Ink on the Inkcyclopedia website. Here is a link if you are interested in reading it:www.fpgeeks.com/inkcyclopedia/inkcyclopedia-de-atramentis-document-blue I was in my hometown Breda in Holland in december for visiting Family and friends when I brought Parker Premier to repair to the Fountain Pens shop "tschrijfgereitje" (the little writng tool). I talked to the shopkeeper about the inks and he was very interested. Before I went there, I talked to Dr Jansen and told him what I was going to do (I needed a colour chart) He was very enthusiasted as always(especially after he read my words under the ink review) and he sent me two bottle of ink to thank me. I now have four De Atramentis Inks:Document BlueDocument Dark BlueKhakiJane Austen Green.I showed these inks to the shopkeeper in Breda who liked them so much that he told me that he would order these inks for his shop...Of course I will do a review on these inks as soon as possible. On the website "dietintenmanufaktur.de" are very interesting articles on the history of Ink dating back to ink manufactoring in the middle ages. Unfortunately these articles are in German but I will translate them over a period of time if Dr Jansen allows me to do so. as you may have noticed I am very enthousiastic with my Inks. I will buy more fountain pens and inks in the future. Maybe not ALL inks will be De Atramentis but believe me there are a lot of Dr. Jansen's inksto follow ;-):-)I hope this article was worth reading. I like sharing my enthousiasm and thought this was a nice way of thanking Dr. Jansen for the free bottles of ink. (Juts a warning I am in no way afilliated with De Atrmamentis I just love there inks... and er Dr Jansen is not my grand dad haha :-) My next article will be on hte history and etymology of the latin words De AtramentisKindest regards,Peter Vlutters

Sorry fort the typing errors.

And unfortunately there are no blank rules which were in the text as I wrote it. They got lost in uploading.

Kind regards,

Peter

You'll find a lot of love for De Atramentis inks here. I'm using Aubergine and Silver Grey right now. There are other inks that are will hold up to erasing. Also, try erasing a ball point with rubbing alcohol.

My feelings about DeA inks has changed as I have learned more.

One of my first bottles when I got back into inks, was a bottle of the scented Lavender. The ink is a bright pretty blue. I expected a purplish color.

At first I loved it, but then, I found that the ink was totally washable, and the scent faded quickly.

Oh, and it just wasn't as vibrant as BSB (but I've given up on that pipe dream, because no other ink is like BSB).

Then, I did my fade test. The ink held up better than most blue inks.

In later experiments, it still held up as readable.

I have come back around to really liking the ink especially for my doodles.

The results I have had with the Lavender ink are consistent with my experience with the DeA inks. My pen pal finds them to be feathery, but I think my tolerance is higher. I really think these are well made and pretty inks. They have a nice bottle, they are easy to clean and flush, have never stained and pen and overall, I think they are great.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thank you for starting this thread, Peter. Very cool that you got to talk with Dr. Jensen himself, too. I look forward to reading your reviews.

I haven't tried many of them - yet - but I like the De Atramentis inks I have tried - Bamboo Green, Fog Grey and Pine Green. I also have several other DA ink samples waiting to be 'auditioned.' Though I have little experience with them, I agree with amberleadavis - thus far, nice inks, nice colors, good flow, easy to clean out of the pens. I will no doubt add to my De Atramentis inventory - there are several on my wish list, including Jane Austen and Tobacco.

De Atramentis etymology and history. The following text was taken and adapted from the website WWW.DIE TINTENMANUGFAKTUR.DEThe text was only in German but I Try to translate it as correctly as possible...HISTORIA DE ATRAMENTISIn the middles ages it were mainly monks who specialised themselves in the developement of inks. Above that recipes of inks whee found in the archives, dating back to the 16th century, of pharmacists. These pharmacists occupied themselves, beside of medications, with questions of nature and physics. In the year 1735 the German pharmacist Franz Esser of Monchen Glattbach (German town) produce several inks, some of them based on recipes in the book De Atramentis (a.d. 1660). Beside that he developed several new inks, which recipes he then carefully archived.Franz Esser's son Josef both inheritated both the recipes and the love for inks.after that the book "De Atramentis" was inheritated generation after generation till this finally fell in the hands of Dr. Franz-Josef Janssen the owner of "Die Tintenmanufaktur, De Atramentis"In 1991, after extensive laboratory research, the first hand made De Atramentis inks where produced. In 1995 a completely new line of inks, the Genuss-Tinten (Pleasure Inks or Joy Inks) where introduced.Today De Atramentis produces 200 (TWOHUNDRED!!!) inks in 55 (FIFTYFIVE!!!) coloursSofar the text which you can find (in German) on the above mentioned website under the button "Die Tintenmanufaktur"The text beneath is of my contribution! The ingenuity of Dr Franz Josef Jansen, combined with his unlimited creativity and love for inks results in thee appaerance of various new inks most frequentlyHis latest idea: The inkline "Women Power 2014" (Calamity Jane, Jeanne D'Arc)Although I am not a great fan of scented inks, I must mention that a vast array of these are produced... Since I am a bookworm and read a lot, I must soon buy the ink called Bookworm. This inks smells like old books :-)My lord! Since I also love wine whisky and cognac I must also buy the inks made with Barolo or Cabernet Sauvignon. They MUST be a joy (as long as I do not drink them :-)Thank you very much for your Interest, next will be an De Atramentis Ink review...
