And, Mister Boll, there is no need of screaming in bold red letters, just because other people are not reading all fountain pen forums there are.

I'll do screaming blue letters next time so as not offend your rather delicate nature.

Come on, folks.

You've had an anniversary gift for two or three years from Akkerman: big bottles for in hindsight a gift/discount price. Now don't moan when the smaller bottles are sold at the normal commercial values.

If you wouldn't know about the old one, you wouldn't complain.

That's a specious argument. You don't know that to be fact; people may have been put off by a price of 15 euros for 60ml, who knows. Akkerman put the large ones on sale and established a baseline price for the ink. One assumes that Akkerman has been making a profit on the larger bottles for the past 3 years?

I would pay a small increase but from 0.14 to 0.32? No justification for this.

Thank you for common sense!

Those TWSBI bottles don't come with ink, look boring, cost the same - but still got praised. Now we get a much better bottle (in my opinion) for the same price, plus we get a good ink as a gift in addition to the bottle.

I don't know what's to complain.

Greetings,

Michael

You are right in a way. I never bought a bottle of Montblanc ink, because I thought it to be too expensive. But I don't like Montblanc in general--exactly because they seem to be mostly concerned with being as expensive as possible.

The Akkerman ink, on the other hand, offers more than just price. The bottle is a show-off, but one that serves its purpose well. There, I don't buy the logo, but the function; that's why it's okay for me.

And thank you for calling the argument specious--that taught me a word I didn't know yet.

Specious it may be, yet it is valid. One cannot react to the unknown.Had there never been a big bottle, there wouldn't have been complaints about the 'new' referring to the 'old' situation..

And besides: there have been bigger bottles (exactly the same design!) with good quality fountain pen ink, at a lower price than what Akkerman sold lately. Unaware of that fact, nobody complained related to the 'old' situation about amount or price when Akkerman reintroduced the bottle.

I think they look great and it certainly was great fun visiting the PW Akkerman shop this afternoon.

It's all about money and greed.

How upsetting. :(

They make my favourite ink too.

Sorry pmhudepo, I don't mean to rain on your parade.

I would have been very excited to visit, see and try their inks in the flesh.

I'm a little disappointed that the price is basically unchanged from the big bottle. But it's the bottle I'm after not the ink. Still, I wonder why it's so expensive. Soda pop bottles with similar marbles are only $1-2.

Actually, it's the ink I'm after, not the bottles, although I do find these cute. I'd like to try and see if I can find any differences to Diamine's.

I am more concerned about the availability of the Akkerman inks (150 ml or 60 ml), not the price/ml, etc.....

It's only ink.

If you really like a line of inks (be they MB or Edelstein or Iroshi or in this case Akkerman) then it's worth paying the price.

Unless of course you do reams & reams of writing & you use gallons of the ink.

It is only ink.

Returning home with an absolutely beautiful pen, with the right nib size, as well as a very cool bottle of ink, is a really nice shopping experience.

It's quite different if you are just shopping for ink, especially online. In that case, I can imagine the price may be a little steep, although not as steep as Iroshizuku or De Atramentis. (I think. I haven't searched for the best deals.)

I'd say, get this one for the bottle and perhaps look elsewhere if you want cheap ink.

These smaller bottles are even more vintage looking to my eye than the bigger ones. Let's see, next trip to Europe: France for the bread and pastries (and wine, of course), Germany for the wurst and beer, Belgium for the fruit beer and chocolate, and the Netherlands for bottles of ink! It's doable.

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

I'm also very disappointed about the announced price of the new bottles.

I wanted to order some of their colors about 2-3 weeks ago (didn't have e.g. their I.G. ink till now) exactly when they removed almost all inks from the available list.

I thought a smaller bottle would be a great thing (as the amount of ink of the old ones is really big), even when the price per ml would raise a bit.

So I looked almost every day since then on their site when the now bottles become available.

I expected something between 8-10 Euro for the new ones.

To be honest I will not buy any ink from them anymore if they raise the price really to 15 Euro for 60ml, because IMO this is an audacious rip off (similar to the new Caran d'Ache inks).

Basically we are talking about Diamine ink in nice bottles, such a price is simply not justifiable, nice bottle or not.

So I will stay with their Diamine siblings.

They made for sure profit with the big bottle, and the price per ml was about the Diamine ink (including the bottle).

So nobody can tell me that the bottle was a significant part of the price.

And if they insist tell us this fairy-tale, than they should keep at least the big bottles available at the current price or sell the ink also in simple bottles.

A rip off is a rip off, is a rip off and at least I will not support it.
