Most Beautiful Pen Cases And Wraps On Planet Earth

Today I ordered a three-pen case that has long since been on my wishlist from a Taiwanese workshop called Chan's Handmade 蟬手作 - literally, Cicada Handicrafts. If you are an avid reader of FPGeeks, you may have come across the name in their interview with Speedy of TWSBI, in which Speedy shows us his EDCs (TWSBIs) in a wrap made by Speedy's friend's mum, aka Chan's Handmade:

This appears to be an early example. Here is the talented mama hard at work.

They make several kinds of pen homes - 1-pen kimonos, 3-pen cases, and 5+1 pen wraps, all of which vary greatly in price depending on the fabric. Customers may pick both style and fabric, and in some cases, request a few specs, such as dimensions or number of pen slots. Most are lined in suede.

A fraction of her stunning work.

I ordered the three-pen case in the blue-teal combination above. The fabric is Nishijin-ori (西陣織), a traditional textile woven only in Kyoto from silken threads in many different shades to give the cloth depth and complexity. This one is a wool-silk blend.

Customer service was stellar. They responded within the hour to my request, answered all my questions promptly and quoted reasonable shipping - just $3 from Taiwan to Hong Kong by registered airmail.

Well worth sharing, I hope!

Very nice indeed, both the 小青海波 and 月光 are very tempting. (Doesn't hurt having the Leica in the bottom of one of the product shots either.)

whitedot, where did you order from?

Oo, those are lovely. I like the individual pen slots. Yes, worth sharing - thank you!

Pet peeve: Pens are protected from things outside the wrap but not each other.

Yes, I don't like that either. My daughter gave me (several years ago) one of the Levenger bomber-jacket leather 5 pen wraps, and it is the same way. Nothing to protect the pens from rubbing against each other. Needless to say, it has never been used. Expensive too, as most things from Levenger are. IMHO. I should have sent it back...

Could someone please point me in the direction of where to buy them, please? I think someone mentioned a Facebook page?

Edit: I found it :)

The denomination is TWD, not USD.

Confirmed this morning that 3-pen cases have individual slots, i.e. dividers that run the full length.

I can help.

If you leave a message in English on their FB page, I'll translate for you (and them).

Generally, if you are making a custom order, the process goes:

You leave a message.

They reply below.

When you have agreed on specs, they give you a quote and link to a new custom item in their online shop.

You click on the link and pay with Paypal.
