Does anyone know what brand or brands of fountain pen ink were used by Winston Churchill?

I'd hazard a guess at it not being Pelikan...

Yes, I would also say Diamine, as they've been manufacturing ink, so says the bottle, since 1864. In England.

It would probably be one of the more common English Made Inks at the time.

So just a guess

Parker, Stephens, Onoto or Diamine, although in all the years I have been using inks in the UK I have only just heard of Diamine so they have to my knowledge ever been one of the popular inks, I have never seen them sold in shops and stationary shops over here and I have been buying inks from the 60's, mind you the same can also be said of Onoto as well, unless they went bust in the 40's to 50's and was then resurrected by another company like Conway Stewarts where.

My bet would be for either Parker or Stephens, both have a long history of selling bottled inks over the counter in the UK, although Stephens are long gone now.

I don't know about ink, but take a look at this interesting article

I'd guess Conway Stewart or Parker

I've never seen vintage Conway Stewart branded ink and I'm not sure whether Parker Quink is a bit "young".

Stephens is the most likely. There was also Fields ink around at the time. Not sure about the history of Diamine. We have an old bottle here and judging by the style of bottle and graphics it could be from the right era.
