Sailor Kobe #34

So, here's something interesting. I like this ink a lot, but it's incredibly hard to tell apart from Sailor Kobe #28.

I personally LOVE this colour ink, so I don't mind having tons of options to choose from in this realm, but people might be warned not to buy both #28 AND #34 unless they don't mind repeats.

It looks great on Rhodia and CF paper ...

... and even more amazing on highly absorbent paper!

The shading is delicious. This is just ONE of the many shading pictures I have, so make sure to check out the album for a few other gorgeous ones.

Overall, I really like this ink.

See the comparison been #28 and #34 here.

And another one that's like the three Diamines I mentioned in my comment about the other two Kobis earlier.

GoodCaptain - would you mind either linking to the post you mention or renaming the Diamine inks? If you think they are so similar and I happen to have them, perhaps I should do a comparison! :)

Of course; no problem. I just love these kind of greens. Diamine Evergreen, Racing Green and Salamander. Also Noodler's Sequoia. I don't think you'll have Salamander yet as although I've announced it and posted scans, it's not on sale yet for a few weeks.

From the scans, Salamander looks gorgeous and I am eagerly awaiting it, but I suspect you'll be surprised by how different it looks from Kobe #28 or #34. Racing Green also looks a lot more khaki than these two inks. Evergreen is much closer, and I will set up a comparison with that to see what it looks like. :)

I've written them but not scanned the comparisons, including Umber as a bit of a control - yet! Something else always seems to crop up.

Soon.

Hi, thanks for your reviews of these somewhat hard to find inks. Keep 'em coming! I bought this one, #34, based solely on this review and I love it! Would never have known about it otherwise. Unfortunately the pictures in the review seem to have gone south, but I might post some of my own!

I'm so glad you like the ink! It's pretty great, I'll admit. :) Sorry about the temporary dead links. I had to move all the photos around in my album, since there were so many that the photos were impossible to organize. I'm updating the old reviews with the new links, but I did a lot and it's taking a lot of time. I'm at De Atramentis now, and a long way away from Kobe inks. :P

Saskia, thank you for the great review, as always. If you're still monitoring this thread, can you comment on how close Kobe #34 and #28 are to Epinard and/or Tokiwa-Matsu? #34 looks very slightly darker and slightly less yellow than Epinard and Tokiwa-Massu, but I can't tell for sure. Thanks!

This might help. :) I only have Epinard and #28, but Epinard is significantly darker than #28.
