Awesome Pen Wraps By Daisy25

I’ve been looking for a pen wrap for a while now. I have my Franklin-Christoph Fabric 3 pen case, which I like, but it’s filled and is generally kept in my work bag. I know I could have just gotten another color, especially since I like it so much, but what’s the point of 20 pens and 50 inks if you’re just going to buy the same case over and over. Besides, I like the idea of a soft, casual way to carry around 3 – 4 pens.

But I was having trouble finding one I liked—or, more to the point, one I liked in my price range. I eliminated the mass-produced ones immediately, as they all just seemed a bit too limiting. And many of the people I found on FPN or Esty, were either busy or priced a bit high (I’m not saying they’re not worth it…but I’m on a budget).

I first came across Daisy25’s wraps when she posted one in the Pay It Forward 2013 thread. I didn’t win that wrap, but through her blog, I found her Esty store, Daisy Fair.

None of what she had up for sale at the time was really my style—most of it was rather feminine, but as I’ve now been watching her store for a while I can see that the theme and mood of her stock fluctuates. But I liked the form of her wraps well enough that I wrote her to see if she had others. And while she didn’t, she said she’s be happy to work with me do design one.

  • An aside: I’ll get to the actual review, presently. But I did want to take a moment to say, that while I love her wraps, her personal service was the best part of the transaction. I came away feeling, not just that she did a custom order for me, but that she designed something for me.
She was friendly, and seemed to get a good laugh out of my opinion that her stock was a bit feminine for my tastes. She then emailed me a couple of pictures—probably 40 fabrics total—asking what struck my fancy. I selected one that kinda crazy-abstract. She told me that she’s shied away from using that fabric already because she just wasn’t sure what to do with it, and then suggested two other fabrics—and a closure—that would complement the one I chose. The next day—yes, 1 day later—she emailed me the pictures of my wrap. And she suggested that if I liked it, I pay quickly, because her husband rather liked it. $22, including shipping, BTW.

The wrap was in my hands 2 days later. And I couldn’t have been happier. It’s big enough to protect my pens, without being bulky, and the pockets are a good size—my Lamys and TWSBI fit comfortably. In fact, I liked it so much, that I started thinking about my next one. While this may seem a little like the buying frenzies we collectors are prone to, in my defense, 3 wraps is really what I need—1 stays with my work stuff, 1 stays with my creative writing stuff and 1 is moved around as needed.

When I told her my idea for my 2nd wrap, she loved it—turns out she’s a bit of a sci-fier, too. I bought 2 of the 3 fabrics and the closure myself, and sent them to her—she picked out the 3rd fabric from her own stock. And she seemed to genuinely enjoy the design process, and making someone else’s idea come to pass. Here’s the wrap I got just a couple of days ago.

I cannot recommend these wrapsor working with Daisy25—strongly enough. Seriously, I like this wrap more than I like some of the pens that are in it.

In another thread, she said she will sometimes make exceptions and ship overseas. So just send her a PM, or contact her through Etsy.

Yup. I do. I'll be better at this in what remains of the summer though. Once the semester starts (too soon, too soon), my free time disappears with a big poof.

Meanwhile though, I have just listed a pen wrap in the Pay It Forward thread: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/236374-pay-it-forward-2013/page-40

I'll add to the accolades. I bought one of Daisy25's pen wraps as a gift for my husband, and since I was already having one sent, I had to get one for myself as well. :D Both wraps are gorgeous, and the craftsmanship is outstanding. (I wish I could sew so well.) Wonderful work Daisy25!

I completely agree I own two of the wraps and a 2 pen fold over case made by her and they are stunning.  My wife was impressed with a.) the fact that I could pick something that nice and b.) the quality of the stitching on these.  The printed material that she uses on the wraps is like small cloth works of art, expertly sewn and topped off with either a nice "thought coin" or a pretty little bauble to help keep the string wrapped around the case.  If it weren't for my son making me the great display box he dod I would own at least one, maybe two more of her wraps.[member='Daisy25'] creates quality pen "homes", and they travel well too.

Thank you so much for all the kind comments! I really love making the wraps and it just pleases me to know that fabric that has just been sitting around in my sewing room is going off in the world and making someone happy (and helping protect precious pens).

I would like to add my accolades as well. Thank you @dcroe05 for your initial review else I might have missed these wonderful wraps. Thanks to all the other posters on the thread, too. My intention was to purchase these as gifts, but thanks to your recommendations, I made sure to include a 2-pen fold-over case for myself. :)

And thank YOU, @Daisy25! :D

I have nothing but praise for the entire experience. The hardest part was narrowing down my selections from the available choices. :) Daisy25's craftsmanship is excellent! I am absolutely thrilled with the quality of her work, and the fabrics are lovely. I am very pleased to give the wraps as gifts and am sure they will be gratefully received. I LOVE the 2-pen case I ordered for myself. The slots are large enough for MB149 and M1005 - they fit beautifully and, for those who don't like to use their clips to secure their pens in wraps, there is even ample room to slip the entire pen, including the clip, into the slot. The fold-over top and clever snapped closure keeps them safe.

I love that second wrap with the faceless people. The craftsmanship looks awesome on these.

I love this! In the face of a globalized world, something made by hand with a customer's input and involvement - refreshing! :D

I figure I'd add to this review. Count me in as a very happy Daisy25 wrap customer. Here are some pics of my recent purchase from the Daisy25 Etsy site:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/DaisyFair

My wrap was purchased for an extremely fair (I consider low actually) price of $22. This was my 2nd ever purchase from Etsy and I will be purchasing more from Etsy. What a far cry from the corporate conglomerate of rules and regulations of Epay.

Wrap was shipped quickly and has become part of my EDC. Construction and fabric are excellent. Outer fabric seems like a gauzy, cotton of some sorts, and the inner liner is a very soft and protective faux suede. I like it. Pens slip in and out easily. The flap is functional and keeps pens from slipping out. A leather (I think it's leather) cord/lace with a small bead quickly ties everything together. My largest pen (the MB 149) fits easily and can be clipped to the pocket or slipped in without clipping, which is how I prefer to insert the pens. Functional and utilitarian.

I'm looking forward to purchasing more wraps. Maybe one that will have 5 slots instead of 4? And possibly with an outer slot as well?

Some quick pics:

I purchased a 2-pen sleeve this summer and think it's the shiz-nit. It's perfect. I use it for carrying 2 of my fancier pens that I don't want to mix or bump into other pens in my zippy pencil case.
