Caribbean Sea Vs. Kobe #13 Vs. Aqua Lagoon

I'm trying to find a substitute for Caran d'Ache Caribbean Sea, since it is now discontinued and I only managed to get about 6 bottles. The Kobe ink had the same complicated shifting undertones that I love about Caribbean Sea, but it is much greener. Aqua Lagoon is closer in colour, but much duller.

I'm hoping to try putting a drop or two of the Kobe ink into the Aqua Lagoon to see if I can get something closer to Caribbean Sea.

:) Thank you for taking the time to do the comparison. Very interesting and helpful! I have a sample of Aqua Lagoon and will follow your lead on this.

I saw your review of the Carribean Sea, and the Kobe N Emerald...both brilliant reviews, you do them very well in projecting the shades. Will be joining my Kujaku for my blue-greens, thank you!

I'm rather taken with Nunobiki Emerald - and this from someone who thought Diamine Steel Blue was vile and took one look at his new bottle of Vert réséda and promptly sold it...

I'm a bit sensitive to blue-greens - and purples - finding some of them garish for no good reason. On the other hand, give me any mix of yellow and green and I'm happy as Larry.

Saskia's recent threads remind me I made a promise to review some Kobe inks, but I'm snowed under right now, sorry. We've had Nunobiki Emerald and, I think, Rokko Green, but Gakuen Toshi, Sourakouen tea green, Minatogawa Lime, Kaikyo Blue and Shinkaichi Gold are all looking at me and drumming their fingers...

Hope you find something that suits you.

Maybe one of these:

WM South Seas Blue or Inspired Blue

Lamy Turquoise

Skrip Turquoise

Good luck!

Maybe give Diamine Mediterranean Blue a go? I like it quite a lot. It is well behaved with some shading.

Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice; damn

There goes that fox again.

Thank you for this great comparison. I just recently inked a whole lot of pens with Aqua Lagoon. What a nice ink!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Herbin Blue Pervenche or Pelikan Topaz might be worth looking at.

I had the Herbin bottle sitting next to the C d'A bottle for a test that has not been done.

The bottles of C'dA were €11 which is cheaper than €13 for Edelstein or MB of course there is less per bottle.

I'd heard nothing but :yikes: the expense!!!!, that I never looked for them until they stopped making them. I'd planned to get only one or two, but got 4 in they were 'cheaper' than folks from the States indicated.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.
