Mini-Mi Leather Notebook Cover (Pic Heavy)

Hey y'all, I thought I add my drop in the bucket of notebook knowledge and post some pictures of my homemade Midori-style notebook, with a small twist. Small as in, well, it's smaller for starters. Girl pockets are not always roomy, and I needed something that could accommodate one or two Moleskine Volant XS or Apica CD5 \notebooks. I like the bright, Easter-y color bands on these.

The results are below, hope you like the pics and feedback is always welcome!

These are so pretty! The Easter colors are fun, and the bands look like they're holding the pens

pretty securely. Are those available at craft stores or similar? Pen storage is something I'm trying

to work out with my notebook.

Great job!

Hi Carole, thanks! The bands are good for holding the notebook togethrer, but not tight enough to really hold a pen securely. I found the bands in an hair accessories box sitting around my house.

Super job! Did you cut the leather yourself?

Glad you like it!

Yes, an exacto knife helped get the clean edges.

Thanks, Vera! The leather was sent to me from a family friend,. You could probably get something similar from a leather store or craft shop. I wasn't sure how it would hold up to the stress of the elastic or form to the notebooks with them being so small, but both leathers are beautiful, very supple yet supportive. The stone is the softer of the two, while the kodiac is stiiffer. They are both the same thickness, about a couple millimeters.

Used the blue banded Mini-Mi notebook at the park today, fitted nice in my back pocket and was easy to write in. The leather provides a better writing platform than I thought it would..

Hi,

Nice job! :notworthy1:

I really love the grain leather used, and the band colors just fit perfectly. Hair stuff, you said ?

I have a couple of questions here:

Any idea of the thickness it is ?

Did you apply a special treatment on the leather ?

Thanks for sharing this...

These are great!! Gotta love a good miniature :)

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.

Hi, yes, the leather is really nice. I didn't do anything to it and I don't know what was done to it before it was given to me, but it feels fully finished as it is. Very durable, and it's probably about 1/8th or so of an inch.

Thanks! Yes, the notebook that gets written on most is the one I can have on me conveniently. What's nice about this is that ability to have more than one notebook - a nicer lined one like the Apica for capturing ideas and a perforated sheet one like the Volant xs for tear away notes and such.

Thanks, runnin' ute! Stuck some Apica CD5s in them, and the paper is much nicer than the Moleskine or the Levenger.

That's a beautiful notebook cover. I'm in the process of making one myself for an A5 size (more of a sleeve-style for a hardback notebook), hope it turns out looking as good as this. Might have a go at this style as gifts for friends, it looks so professional yet fun.
