Here are the same pens prepared for writing (the TWSBI is not designed to post)

52 1/2v Black Chased Hard Rubber, 52 1/2v Mottled Hard Rubber (woodgrain), 52 1/2v Ripple, 0552 1/2v with gold fill overlay (yes, these are shorter)

The 52 family portrait; 52 1/2v MHR, 52v BCHR, 52 1/2 Ripple, 52 BCHR and a TWSBI for sizing.

I hope you all enjoy the review.

Shortly after posting this review, I received an email letting me know that my package (with this pen) had been shipped.

Ha Ha Ha The USPS got the package here faster than the internet. Maybe my connection is slow. :roflmho:

Gorgeous pen(s)! Love that 52½! I've been wanting to get a red ripple 52, 52V, or 52½ (my goal is to have all four basic configurations).

DOH!

You snagged the pen I'd been coveting. Jes couldn't fit it into my budget, this month. Was hoping it would last till end of month. Oh well, glad a FPN'er got it. Enjoy! Oh, and thank you for the illuminating size specs/comparison. :)

MHPhoto, Thanks. I love the Ripple but the woodgrain is sweet too. The best writer is the plain jane 52.

NotBob, sorry. I'd been watching it for a while too. It was a great price. I see BCHR models in poorer condition selling for more money.

BTW, keep an eye on this dealer

Thank you for the link.

I already made one "impulse pounce" mistake on a vintage 52. I'll not be hurried, again.

I still have much to learn. That's why I appreciated your size details. I was not sure jes how small that pen actually was and if it was postable, which I usta think all FPs were. Now I know better. Again, thanks for that bit of info.

Vintage pens are often postable and I routinely post the 52 1/2v's. My 55 is a bit top heavy posted but it's long enough that I don't need to post it.

  • 2 weeks later...

NotBob, sorry. I'd been watching it for a while too. It was a great price.

The same dealer now has an overlaid 452-1/2V with a superflex nib. I was all set to jump when I reread the ad and suddenly realized it was only 3-3/4 inches long. Yikes!

Sorry! I realize the purpose of these pocket pens, but that's jes too dang short. Even more astonishing, while looking up other 452-1/2Vs, I ran across a jes missed sale on FPN (Dec) that included a matching pencil, both overlaid, for a much lower price.

I think I'll drop back about 30 yds and regroup. Perhaps get the Noodler pens I already have to flow enough to keep up with their already amazingly flexible nibs. Definitely learn where some of the better flex nib deals are.
