Waterman Inexpensive Fountain Pen To Identify

invel

Recommended Posts

i am trying to trace back a pen for daily use i had in the eighties.

i bought it in the uk, iI was made of black matt plastic and had an orange clip and cost about gbp 5. excellent design.

the plastic was a kind of nylon-like softish plastic with a matte finish. And it wrote pretty well. I liked to use it as my main writing utensil.

somebody mentioned the name jiffie, but i can't find it.

can anyone help?

Regularly sold on the bay by the fireman by the 1000...for about £5 to £8. Even he does not know the name.

sorry I may have provided the wrong seller, I have looked through 'completed' but cannot find the seller or any of his pens. I think they are from the Forum era, but an all plastic version.

(THE PHOTO IS AWFUL)

But the information is good ....

(Strange how people can be kind when you help them ... )

i think "the photo is awful" remark is for the pic that invel uploaded himself in his reply and not for the earlier pic...

Hello,

As far as I know, the name of the pen is "JIF".

I used them in my student days, around late 70's.

In Japan, I've never seen black ones.

In my collection, there were four of white fountain pens with colorful clip and section.

Green, blue, red and yellow.

I've lost them all but recently found one with green clip and section in eBay.

Now I'm a JIF owner again.

Here's a sample photo of black one from somewhere on the web.

I will post the photo of mine later.

A member here,Speerbob, has an ebay website on which I saw some pens about a year or so ago similar to what you describe. He sold them in pairs. You might send him a PM to inquire what they were and whether some are still available.

  • 4 months later...

I too used those fountain pens when I was at school. I first had the black with red pin, then a white with green pin (picture above, I kept it for 15 years) then I had a white with red pin (used with red ink).

I always fed them with Waterman ink, unmounted / washed / cleaned them every three month and they never stopped working. I wonder what they have become ... I wish I could buy some of those, just to remind me my young time :crybaby:

Hi, pouf1!

The reason why I bought one, is exactly the same as yours.

I really wish you can buy some.
