I was very shocked to see this notebook-- and there was no way I couldn't have seen it. Ivory paper really stands out in the stacks of bleached white paper. It might be considered offwhite/cream, actually. It's a very pleasant color. There were spiral notebooks as well, but I only grabbed the composition notebook.

The covers are designed by Pink Light Design; I learned this after searching through the stack for a cover design that did not prominently feature pink. (Hint: they all do.)

The paper is THIN. It's not exactly smooth. I can't tell if I'm imagining it or not, but the feel of the paper on my hands reminds me of newspaper. That grimy, squeaky, and sometimes almost powdery feeling? Yeah, that one. I keep expecting my fingers to turn gray.

When I flipped through the pages, I saw that at the top of the last page someone had made a teeny tiny mark. It must've been with a liquid ink pen, I figured, because it looked like it had feathered pretty bad.

I got the notebook anyway-- yes, the one with feathery paper. The one someone had 'sullied.' I'm odd like that.

Surprise! It turns out that someone hadn't marked the page at all. When I got home and rubbed my finger over the line, it turned out to be something stuck to the page. It scratched off clean. I got happy, because this meant that the paper might not feather after all.

Well... look:

Aw... shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

Like I said: thin paper. There's less bleed-through than I expected, just a ton of show-through. (But Sharpie's Sharpie, you know. Can't blame the paper too much on that one.)

If I owned any wet and/or medium+ nibs, I don't think I'd use them in this notebook.

I love this notebook for what it is. Even cheap notebooks that perform well tend to intimidate me out of using them. This one is perfectly in the middle.

I adore ivory/cream paper with light gray lines. The crisp red margin lines are a bonus. And I've never seen a composition book with ivory/cream paper before.

I'm not bothered by show-through; I actually like the way it looks. There's not too much bleeding with my preferred inks and pens. The feathering just says to me, "You can abuse me, it's okay."

And I think the cover is hideous. No, this notebook will not be too precious to 'waste.'
