Sun Test On Ink, Toner And Solid Ink Printer

So, to best explain, after another topic discussed the ability of toner to withstand sunlight, I decided to experiment.

You can see the results here.

On March 10, 2012, I took a paisley clipart and printed it on my beloved Xerox Phaser 8200. The Phaser uses Solid Ink Technology, think of a "crayon" printer, the colors are amazing.

So, after I printed the template, then I "colored" it in with a Office Max Metallic Marker, Koh I Noor Progresso Woodless Pencils and Koh I Noor Drylighter and various Fountain Pen Ink including Noodler's Bad Belted King Fisher. (I think the burgundy is Swishmix).

Then, I scanned the doodle. Here is a copy of the scan and then I printed the scanned copy on the Xerox and on the Imagistics (Samsung) Laser Printer. I also took pictures of all three. The Phaser Print could be distinguished from the Original because of the metallic ink.

See the close-ups from these photos.

Then, I took pictures of all three versions.

Finally, I placed all three in the window to see how they would hold up.

As you can see, reds do not hold up well.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Final installment of this experiment. I had to make room for the newest samples.

The Noodler's ink on the original still looks great.

The toner held up well, but black usually does.
