Strathmore Calligraphy 400 Series Paper

I love this paper! It comes in 50-sheet pads, is acid-free, and is 8 1/2"x 11" in size. Curiously, the pad cover says this has a "wove finish", but it has, in fact, a laid finish. I bought a few pads of this in the 90's and was worried that Strathmore had changed the paper (the pad has a different cover now). But it seems to be the same paper, same laid finish, and it handles fountain pen ink well, without feathering. The paper color is a cream color, is a touch on the thin side (20 lb.), but only Noodler's Baystate Blue and Rotring ArtistColor Red bled through to the other side of the sheet on my sample (but those inks are currently in wet pens, too). Dick Blick seems to sell this cheaper than anyone else at $3.49 a pad. I'll definitely keep this paper on hand for letter writing and such.

For another review, see WillSW's review on FPN. One of his scans captured the cream color better than my scan did.
