Questions About Namiki Sterling Silvern/ Art Craft

Years ago, I had one of the Namiki sterling pens in this style. I sold it off, as I really don't care for the figural engravings.

However, I've been lusting after the Ishidatami (stone paved) finish.

What is the broadest nib that this model offers?

What is a good price/ place to watch for?

Thanks!

greg

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

These come only in F and M.

These are the same price as the Custom 845, ~50000 ¥.

You don't see much discounting of these. The Malaysian dealers have the price at $550. You can check eBay but anything below $500 for a new pen is not bad.

Thanks Ricky.

Do you know if the nibs can be retipped? Or, are they fixed like a sheaffer inlaid nib?

Regards, greg

I do not believe it is very easy to separate the nib from the section for re-tipping. I wonder if the nib can be re-tipped in place. Try asking John M. since he sells the pens and can give an idea of possibility.

Greg, the inset nibs on these pens can be removed. Some times the nib unit develops a leak and the solution is to remove the inset nib, clean and reseal it back to the section.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

That's right hari317.

I have never removed a nib from a Silvern pen, but I did it on a Custom pen...I believe it is the same.

Those nibs slides on the section and are kept in place by some sealant. It was quite easy to soften the sealant using a hairdryer and carefully extract the nib.
