Kim And Co. Pens

I had ordered and received around 5-6 Jumbo Kims a year back. I finally decided to play around with them. I modified one of them to accept a threaded in nib unit from a M1000. some pics:

The other pens are a regular M1000 with O3B stub and a Dani Trio Mikado with a BB/BBB retip.

Cheers!

Hari

Wow! How did you do that? My mother's friend is sending some from India, and I was wondering how you modded the pen to fit the Pelikan nib. Is it possible to do so with a smaller nib, such as an M800, or M400?

It is quite simple if you have/buy the tools. You will need some drills, some hand taps, some hands on skills and some patience. :) Any nib can be accommodated, but smaller nibs would look very disproportionate on the big Kims, IMO.

hari, do you know, is there a way to reach Kim & Co by e-mail? I'm in the US, but would like to inquire about prices and models. I'm probably more intersted in the "smalls" than the "big." I have a Wality 52 and like it a lot, but have been wanting to add an Indian ebonite pen...

Hi, I am not aware of their email, or even if they check their emails regularly. Telephone contact is the easiest. You will find their number in one of the posts in this thread.

With Mesu's (FPN name) help, I did get one of the Kim & Co. regular size cigar-shaped brown ripple ebonite pens recently. I'm going to develop a review for that model, and get some photos up with the review. It's a great pen for $25, very comfortable and easy to use.

Hello Hari,

How do I find out the price of the Kim & Co pens and how to order them? When I Google Kim & Co I get a law firm in New Delhi.

Thanks,

Tom

Update:

Extensive inner cap modifications were needed to accomodate the 40mm nib satisfactorily. Three iterations later, I have a satisfactory result to show you all. Sharing the pictures.

The brown one on the left is the original Big, the brown on the right is the result of the second iteration, the pen was technically satisfactory but the length of the pen was too much for me for daily use and carry. So I sent one more drawing to Kim &Co,, their penmaker did a nice job and finally the black pen with fully exposed length of the big nib and a nicely designed inner cap and 4 start barrel-cap threads(just 2 turns to get the cap off) was delivered to me yesterday :cloud9:

ok, will measure and tell you.

And Hari, how you modified them is amazing...

I had to open the clip washer, increase diameter of the cap final etc to accommodate the 40mm nib, all in all 3 pieces were made before Rafi ran out of the thick rod material or so he told me.
