What Did I Buy?

I completely prepared to say that I took a punt on this pen. My winning bid was about what you'd expect to pay for a second-hand modern 149, but photos 3 & 4 have me hoping. The nib looks tri-colour through the haze and is marked '14C', and the cap bands look silver (but I've seen modern pens look this way when out of focus). The ink window has a celluloid look about it and the filler ring looks raised in the last photo (but flat in the first!).

It'll be fun to see what turns up in the post...

Lucky guy! Good observations on the little tell-tale signs. Hope it is what it appears to be.

Hope the seller packs his pens better than he photographs them.

Can't wait to hear the news. An early congrats!

Firstly, a big thankyou to Barry Gabay, wthout who's article I wouldn't have had the knowledge to bid on this.

HERE is the auction listing.

It arrived this morning. There's a small bit of ambering at the piston end and a couple of scratches but it looks like this:

Are those silver cap bands? Wonderful find to the detriment of the seller! :-)
