Hi All

I just got of a Waterman 72 1/2 Ideal BHR Eyedropper with a silver clip. It is in good condition apart a small hair on the cap.

Is there anyway to have a BHR repaired?

Secondly, I would like to give it a small clean/polish. I read in the forum that water is not BHR friend. So is there any way to give it a small polish[without water]?

Although, in Penspotters page, it recommends water. http://www.rickconne...rs/filling.html

How do you rinse the old ink if not with water?

Thirdly, I tried to find anything on Waterman 72 1/2 on google, but nothing came up? Could any one give me a bit of information about it?

And last, its nib is a wet flexible, a pleasure to write with. I only deep it in different inks, and it react so well to them.

Thanks

Gilles

First a little info on your pen. A Waterman 72 1/2 is a screw cap eyedropper (the "7") with a #2 nib (the "2") in a thin size (the "1/2"). Made after 1917 and could have been made up into the 1930s or 40s as eyedropper pens remained popular with some users. The clip you have is an add on and not factory.

It is nearly impossible to fix hard rubber though someone may be able to stabilize the crack for you so that it doesn't get larger. I'll leave advice on that to a repairman.

Cold water is OK for cleaning. Don't use warm water and don't soak the pen and you should be OK.

Congrats on the Waterman.
