M620 San Francisco Value?

Fazzaz

Recommended Posts

What is reasonable value for an M620 San Francisco, used but very good+, with box and pamphlet? Additionally, what is the reasonable value for the K620 San Francisco Rollerball, also used, very good+, with box and pamphlet? Would these pens be worth more as a set, or individually?

I appreciate your opinions, and no, the pens are not for sale right now.

Thanks.

I think I've seen several of the city series pens pop up in the classifieds just recently and most seemed to be going for around $220 for the fountain pen, not sure about the roller ball.

I recently sold a used San Francisco fountain pen with box and paper for USD400. IMHO, the current price should be about USD500.

I have seen the price for San Francisco and Athens shot up to USD700 (mint) in the fleaby a few years back. It seems to me that the price for the city collection pens have dropped and it may be due to the current economic downturn or low exchange rate of US Dollar. Just my 2 cents..

If you put it on ebay, there's no telling how much you can get. Good starting value for the FP would be $350.

Ah, that fresh ink on paper look!

San Francisco is fetching the highest price in the city series maybe that's the reason they don't appear for sale as often as the others in the series

  • 1 month later...

Just to update this topic, my M620 San Francisco sold on the 'bay in early April for just over $700 (plus mailing) to Japan! My Athens, complete with boxes, papers and lightly used, sold for just a few dollars more, again to Japan. (The San Francisco Rollerball went for just under $170.)

The buyers were apparently all happy, and I was delighted!

I bought a Pelikan San Francisco yesterday.

I have paid 275 euro's, and it is worth it!

That sounds a very good price. Where? Where? Where?

www.missing-pen.de is asking 698 Euro for a new San Francisco which seems a little optimistic to me. Two have come up in the last month on Ebay - one was the one from Fazza - and I've not seen any others there in the last two years or so. I won the second one. It cost me a lot less than Fazza got for his, but more than 275 Euro. I've seen lots of City series for sale, but only these two San Franciscos on Ebay. One or two San Franciscos have come up here but I've always been too late to get them <sigh>. They seem as rare as hens' teeth.

My other City series (Berlin, Madrid, Chicago, Stockholm, Piazza Navona and Grand Place) are all inked and in regular rotation. All but one have italic nibs, mainly from John Mottishaw. Will I be able to bring myself to ink the San Francisco? It is quite the most beautiful of the Cities I've seen. The way the currencies are going I rather think I'll have popped me clogs before I can afford to renib it so it'll probably be a while before it gets inked.

Tom, who is was looking for a Pelikan M620 San Francisco...

But, hey, an Athens or a Shanghai would be nice!

I have bought mine in a shop in Utrecht (the Netherlands), it was a fixture.

I have found another dutch shop that has one, the site is http://www.derooskvh.nl/limited/pelikan/pelikanle.htm

This shop also has a Madrid for sale.

The words 'nog beschikbaar' means 'still available'.

They probably ask €275 for the pen, that is the normal price for cities pen in Holland.

Do ink the San Francisco, it is a real joy writing with it, especially when you fill it with the avacado from Private reserve.

Your suggestion for an ink to use in a San Francisco is inspired! Apart from the issue of the nib (a fine which is probably too narrow to have ground to italic, so may need a new replacement) I had been wondering what ink would match it if I were to ink it.

Thanks!
