Milligram Sydney 'Sneak Peek' event goodies bag

A Smug Dill

After postponing the bookings-essential event for a week at the eleventh hour, Milligram Sydney — now occupying the premises that the stationery section of Dymocks on George Street, Sydney CBD used to be — finally had its launch event this evening. Well, I was very impressed by how the new store is set out, and the company certainly pulled out all the stops in terms of catering, etc. for the event, even though it was difficult enough to navigate the tight spaces in the store as it was, and the queue for the sumptuous spread of ‘nibblies’ at the ‘far end’ of the store — where there is an arch between it and Dymocks' premises (and no physical barrier during BAU blocking traffic, as there was for this event only) — made it even trickier.

I've never seen so many paper products of so many different brands made available in a single store as testers for shoppers to write in. Moleskine (now that's a bold move), Rhodia, Leuctturm1917, Midori, Life, etc. are all available for scribbling on in-store.

Also, supposedly, all the registered guests received one of these goodies bags as gifts. I thought the promised “$250 value” would be largely in the form of vouchers, but I was proven so wrong! I thought there might be a Studio Milligram paper product (either a notebook of the undated type, which may have been available cheaply through Milligram's outlet sales online earlier in the year, or a 2024 planner that the company would reasonably expect to be over-produced based on previous years' sales records) as one of the more concrete items; so I was surprised to see two non-Milligram branded notebooks in the package. However, Milligram really knocked my socks off by including a LAMY AL-star in each bag as a gift, in addition to (I wouldn't have guessed in a million years) four Pilot Petit 3 brush pens.
