Fpn Pens: Hurry! Time Is Running Out Fast!

Dearest Members of the Board,

Since our previous column, a lot has happened. Stipula has been extremely friendly and helpful, and has decided to help us with our pens in a major way, for which we are extremely thankful. This means that although we cannot make up the numbers we originally agreed upon for our pricing here, they have decided to sell to us the lower numbers for the same price, regardless. This means we have a GO for all pen models and variants! :cloud9:

Furthermore, we also have the pleasure to announce that the Passaporto Chrome version can now be supplied with a Medium (1.1 mm) Italic nib as well! All people who did order and pay for a Passaporto have been emailed, in order for them to be able to change to an italic nib if they prefer to do so.

This option has also been added to the FPN Store.

Furthermore, it now is also possible to buy an additional Passaporto nib, in either F, M or 1.1 Italic! These are easily interchangeable, as they can be screwed in and out. Again, additional Passaporto nibs have been added to our store :D.

Because we wanted to order the FPN LE Pens from Stipula well before the Italian Summer break (which starts on August 8), in order to prevent too large a delay during the after holiday ramp up and run up towards the Christmas period, we will order our final numbers of the FPN LE Pens tomorrow, Friday, CET.

This means that if you still want to have all options of nibs etc. on each pen model you'd like to buy, you better buy them quickly. We will order only very few extra, and those will be fitted with predetermined nib sizes. These we will decide on just before ordering.

That also brings us to manfacturing, and delivery. Everything will be a little bit slower in the run up to Christmas, plus there is an additional delay due to the Summer Holiday, when the factory shuts down completely. This means that the pens will be manufactured by the end of October, hence with delivery in early November.

So, where do we stand as a result of all this? Well, the graph has changed a little :D, and here is the latest update:

fpn_1311894028__fpnpen-progress-2009-07-28.jpg

The bars indicate where we stand currently as to pens ordered and paid for per model (navy bars), the numbers required for a small production run (light green), the sizes of small production runs (in green), the numbers required for large production runs (red), and the sizes of large production runs (red brown).

These bars are also translated to a table, which shows what the actual numbers are in figures.

In short, looking very good indeed!

Effectively, we will be able to order the large production numbers, as we will have an additional 3 months to sell the remaining pens.

However, considering the small numbers available after Friday, tomorrow IOW, this means you'd better hurry up if you would like to have this great FPN memento.

In short, if you want to be in on this incredible group deal for an incredible good price for a few incredibly good looking and working pens, don't hesitate, but be quick before these pens run out for ever, and if necessary now even pawn, in addition to your street pavement, your post box and garden shrubs to get in on this once of a lifetime deal! Just check, and you will find that the prices you will pay here, are, to put it politely, more than competitive, and that's including shipping!

Note that not only will you receive what is a great memento of your favourite site, in addition, you also support the good cause by investing in one or more of these pens, as a small percentage will go to the hosting and maintenance of your favourite site, the Fountain Pen Network!

For those who voted, in case you forgot which pens you voted for, the system is of help here. In each poll, in front of the pens you actually voted for, there will appear an small 5-pointed star. In short, it is easy to check which ones you voted for. As a reminder, here follow the links to the polls once more:

FPN LE 2011 Passaportos

FPN LE 2011 Modello Ts

FPN LE 2011 Etrurias

We also opened a new forum a few weeks ago, specifically for (almost daily) news updates, discussions on and questions relating to these pens. This forum is open to all who ordered and paid for their pen(s). Currently, a poll for the final inscription of all pens is in full swing, so order your pen(s) quickly if you want to be in on this! For those who did order, you can find this forum by scrolling to the bottom of the board in forum view (main forums page), or by following this link:

FPN LE Pens 2011 Forum

Therefore, if you aren't in on this deal of a lifetime yet, here is a direct link to the Store (page 1), with all pens, extra nibs for the Etrurias, and extra nibs for the Passaporto:

And for those who want to add to their order, with combined shipping (page 2 in the Store):

For additional nibs, always visit the first page in the store...

Warm regards,

your FPN Admin Team

I'm so happy. Thanks FPN Admin Team for making this happen. Will you post an estimate after placing the order of when we should receive our pens?

I just added a steel italic medium nib to my gold passaporto. I want to keep it with the gold medium nib. I thought you had said it was better to friction replace the nibs, rather than screwing them as the email said? In any case, having an extra nib now for both the Passaporto and Etruria is great.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a Modello which is the only model I didn't order!

Wim, thanks so much to you and Stipula in making our dreams come true. I can stop having my Etruria tears now....

Production should be finished by the end of October, beginning of November. I am assuming right now that the pens will be shipped out straight away.

I'll make sure to ask.

Question is, did I get my order in in time? Yeah, just finished the order (and Pay Pal did me NO favors on the conversion rate...) a minute ago

Link to comment

Hi Ghostship,

No, it probably didn't, but then, since we last checked the rate has dropped again against the euro, it is a 1.44 again right now.

After discussion with Stipula today, the final order will go out on Sunday evening CET, which effectively means that people in the US have time tomorrow as well to decide. We'll block nib choices for new purchases Sunday morning CET, to be able to create a tally of pens and nibs to be ordered.

Warm regards, Wim

I got mine in on my phone before leaving work. Glad to hear the final final order goes out on Sunday! Now I'm just really hoping I selected the 1.1 nib! With trying to muddle through it on my phone and the teeny screen, who knows

I'm absolutely delighted that the the pens are going to be produced! A shimmery, sparkly blue celluloid etruria.... heaven! GhostShip, yeah, paypal didn't do me any favors either. That's the way those things go though. Now I can't wait until November! Thanks Wimg and everyone else for all the hard work on this! I feel like a child before Christmas, just waiting to pounce on the package, even though I know I have to wait....

So happy about the italic nib option on the Passaporto!

Is there a way to double check what I ordered?

Yep

Go to the "client area" and click purchases.

This is reached from the drop-down-menu when you click on your FPN-Name in the upper right hand corner of the page.

So in your case where it says: scribbler77

I still can't believe people didn't want the rhodium ring at the bottom of the section on the T-nib pen for no added cost. wow

Jon, from a pen lover POV, a ring at the bottom end of the section, where the nib is, is not considered to be a good thing. It is one of the places where corrosion will get hold very quickly, whether you will fill it by eyedropper, cartridge, or converter.

Hi Nathan,

Can you try again, please? It looks like something went wrong with the possible associations when fixing the problem we had in the Store a few days ago.

Hi

I ordered and paid for a Passaporto with medium nib on June 20th. I have not yet received it, but see that it is now out of stock. Did I somehow miss getting one? Will I get one?

Thanks

You must have been missing many of the posts here.

You paid for your pen in advance. The pen was ordered recently and will be manufactured in the coming months.

You will receive your pen probably end of october.

Thanks, that clarifies things. I had understood that that was the case, but then the "out of stock" notices on some models and the "10 in stock" (or another #) on others confused me. I assume that "out of stock" means that the targeted number has been reached and that no more orders will be taken.

Hi Tim,

We'll see if we can make things more clear in the store.

When we ordered from Stipula, we had to list the exact model variations and nibs. As a result, we couldn't use the old items anymore with their variety of nibs per item, and set those to 0, i.e, Sold Out, and created new items, for each of the pen and nib variations. Those are selling out as well now, of course.

The Additonal items for combined shipping we did not adjust - that was just too much work, which is why we asked people to please check for themselves if the item(s) are stil available prior to ordering in the normal list of items - the store does not recognize combined shipping we would like it to do, so we had to create separate entries for combined shipping, with their own values for items in stock. We try to adjust numbers available each day, but in case of more than one person buying the last item of a specific variation, we will deal with it on a first come, first served basis.
