A curious OVERSIZE 100 year pen & pencil set

I recently got an interesting set of Waterman 100 year pen & pencil, oversize, with dark red color. The pen's clip is broken, otherwise seems to be nice. The strange things are

(1) The pen's cap is ribbed while the pen's barrel is smoothed. It is possible that someone put on the wrong cap for it, but colorwise it seems quite perfect. The thread fitting is not perfect though

(2) The imprint on the pen's cap is "Waterman's MADE IN USA"; the imprint on the Nib is Waterman's Ideal Account 14KT 18". Seems to be a #18 nib used for emblem?

(3) The pencil has a smooth cap and body, and the pencil's cap has an imprint of "WATERMAN'S UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"

My question is: is it obvious that the pen has a wrong cap? Btw, the set comes with seemingly original waterman-type box (no name on it, but looks exactly like an old waterman box). Here are some pictures:

Cap and Barrel do appear to be a Mix. I'd expect 100-year nib as well on this barrel.

Ah! I think I was watching that auction! I thought it was relatively un-discovered until the bids went up so high right at the end; yes, normal for eBay, but for other 100 Year Pens the bidding ramps up slowly up a lot earlier... Very nice.
