The jade green one above is clearly marked Wyvern whilst the blue/gold one which shares the same arrow lever (typically Wyvern) and the same torpedo shaped cap is clearly marked Craftsman.

Hi, Please forgive this question, but I am new to the list and I don't understand

what the designation "MP" means following the pen names. I've recently found

these two pens at a couple of different auctions ($2.00 each). They've turned

out to be very nice writers and I'm trying to research their history and dates.

According to the key to the table, that field is the initials of the contributor of the entry -- "maxpen". Unfortunately, that member hasn't been on FPN for a couple of years, but if you check his member profile, you'll find an e-mail address and website URL.

Unfortunately, that member [maxpen=Max Davis] hasn't been on FPN for a couple of years...

Someone requested a picture of a "Vogue" pen. I can't seem to find the thread so I'll post it here.

The imprint was very weak but I could make out "Walgreen's" presumably the drug store chain.

 

Here's my memo for this photo and link:

 

"Vogue vest" pen in the middle made by/for Walgreen's Drug Store . Made with National/Barrett parts similar to the "Gold Bonds" like the example above. A shame it's lost it's clip. I placed the Sheaffer Half-Balance below for a size comparison.

Farber Castell had bought stock in the late 1930's....bought controlling interest 1949.....needed a good pen, with a great nib.....some time in the '50's dropped the name Osmia-Farber-Castell to Farber Castell. They needed Osmia's name to make their own.

Golden Rule

NY (ended 1920s...Maiden Lane) LF mostly BHR, BCHR and RHR, nut know of one celluloid. Fred Krinke has collection and info. Nice warranted nibs.

 

Master Craftsman

LF large orange celluloid (Doufold clone look) But Fred Krinke points out that feed looks exactly like Conklin. Nice warranted nib.

BTW, The Katab pen on the list:

Saw that says made in Palestine, but name is also spelled in Hebrew, so presumably a Jewish made pen before 1948?

one more for the list. I've never found been able to find anything out about this company, and only now of them from a picture in a book called Bristol under siege, about the Bristol blitz in WWII.

This may be a stupid question, but can anyone tell me where the Pen Brand database is? Is there a place I can download it or look at it? I've tried searching through all the postings but can't find a link or directions to a location - I may just not be seeing it.

Did you ever come across a manufacturer called "Astroid"? Recently saw this imprint on a nib in a vintage Montblanc pen. It did not appear to be very high quality.

I'm new to the forum. I have several pens not listed.

 

Suprema, piston filer looks like a Pelikan 120, it's from the 60's I used it in elementary school. Maybe Portuguese made.

Skater, a late 60's copy of a Parker 75. Aerometric filler.

Creeks N' Creeks, an 80's low price pen. Impressive big nib. Cartridge.

Weli, piston filler, probably Portuguese.

Walker, a black plastic cartridge pen very low end market, early 80's.

Crest, Japanese, early 70's Sheaffer and Parker look alike. Aerometric filers.

President, maybe Japanese or Chinese, aerometric filer. Late 70's.

Labor, Portuguese piston filler, early 70's.

Pierre Dumont, 80's cartridge filer, German nib.

Enzo Varini, 90's cartridge filer, German nib but bought it new in Paris.

RUP, lever filer, Portuguese 50's. My grandfather owned this brand of low market pens. Ended production in the mid 60's.

Chronist, piston filer, another Pelikan 120 look alike from my elementary school days, late 60's probably Portuguese.

 

Hope this helps to make the list grow.
