Free Parker 45 with Cursive Italic

pb2

Recommended Posts

I'd like to give a nice Bright Red Parker 45 with a smooth & crisp ground Italic nib.

I'd like to give it as a prize for penmanship or calligraphy or somethin' artsy. I'd like to suggest Psalm 45 verse 1 since this is a 45! Any translation/version you like.

So, if you think it would be fun, write something, add it to this post by midnight on Sunday June 8th and I will choose a winner on Monday and post it at noon, and ship the prize.

For some reason my uploads aren't working at this time, so you can see the prize on my last post in Market Watch.

enjoy ~

Here's my entry! I seem to be the first, so this will get the ball rolling.

This is also my first go scanning any writing. I don't have much Italic experience, so I used flex writing - the 45 is a pen I've always liked, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to kick off italic learning Italics on such a great looking pen!

I imagine this'll get pretty image-heavy, so this is a thumbnail (click for full size):

I look forward to seeing everyone else's entries too

Edit: The sample is written with my Esterbrook SJ 9128, which has some nice flex even though a lot of people find them quite stiff. The paper is Ryman's superior, and the ink is a mix of Pelikan's Red and Violet, which I've decided to dub "Tied Lover Purple" (an anagram of violet and red)

Cheers! I was going for simple and neat - I always thought Bible passages written with lots of ornamentation miss the point a bit.

PS: I added the words "verse 1" afterwards and they're a bit cramped. Yuck.

Here's my entry: Chancery Cursive Italic (a la John Cataldo's Pen Calligraphy Course One) with a Speedball C-4 dip pen and Noodler's Dragon's Napalm on Rhodia paper.

So very cool! I'm thinking I'll have to put everyone's name in a hat and draw a winner.

Keep it coming folks!
