Pilot Stripes

I finally got my hands on a black striped Pilot Capless the other day and completed my Pilot stripes collection. Here they are all together and a few extra shots of the MYUs and Capless's (Caplii?) The third picture includes my favorite Capless, the 1968 Sliding Clip model. Enjoy...

That is a sweet collection! How long did it take you to find all the pens from start to finish?

Thanks everyone for the comments.

Deirdre, I picked up the black striped MYU about 5 years ago. The others were all acquired in 2007. I have been watching eBay for years but I finally concentrated on finding some other sources last year. Finding FPN was a big help.

Ryan, I think I have one of the Platinums you mentioned in a soft fine. It's a great pen but I would gladly trade it in for an EF or UEF. Are you sure the UEF exists? Just what I need, another quest.

Nikolaos, I posted a few pics of the MYU demo here! Sorry for the delay...

Congratulations! Great set of pens.

Are you going to go after the mechanical pencils and ballpoints too?

If not, now you can move on to Sailor, where there must be at least ten different models with black stripes. You will find this a huge challenge.

Woody, I think (but I'm not sure) that an Ultra Extra Fine exists. If it does, there's probably only one of them...and Laura probably owns it! :)

I've got a Japanese XF, and it's an outstanding nib. Just awesome.

Thanks Stan, I am happy to be done with the search. I picked up the striped felt tip at the post office today. I like it a lot and find the feeling very close to writing with a FP... much better than a ballpoint or rollerball.

This is where I will leave it. I don't have much interest in collecting all the cousins. I once thought I would like to have one of each Murex but then I discovered the Quartz version. That one is a bit too goofy for my taste so I think I will leave it to the real collectors.

I would like to find a vintage Platinum XXF or UEF now... I have a 70's Sailor with a -1- nib which I love. I have never seen a vintage Platinum finer than F. Stan, Laura, have you ever seen one?

Well, I have to say congratulations... but I must admit I'm also quite jealous! ;) Those are stunning pens. Having the black and blank stripes together is quite a feat of collection perseverance. I'm not hopeful on ever finding a blank stripe MYU... but the Custom models are out there--it just requires diligent watching and waiting.

Also, very nice photography there Woody. You ought to consider submitting an article for Pennant!
