Noodler's Fox Red

Although I've found no flaw and consider this a good ink, I would probably not buy it again, as - like Luxury Blue and Hunter Green - it only comes in a 1oz bottle and is more expensive than other Noodler's bulletproof inks.

Nellie, I was unaware that there was a "newer" version of this ink (the version you're showing) that doesn't have the pinkish tones, but if anything, leans a bit toward orange. I like this better. (Not to mention this would suit the ink's name better :D .)

Is there any info on when this change occurred?

Thanks for the review.

Best, Ann

Thanks, captnemo and Ann. I bought mine roughly a year ago and knew that I wasn't going to get the colour shown on Pendemonium's site but a more 'foxy' red, so the colour change must have been discussed here before that. Yet I cannot find that particular thread with any combination of search words - I've just tried.

I bought mine less than a year ago, and it looks nothing like this; must be the old one. I don't like mine very much, but this one looks great. But I am a little surprised and frustrated at the lack of standarnisation; I would quite like to exchange mine for the newer version, but I doubt that's possible.

Hi QM2,

could you post a scan of your version? If postage wasn't too much, I might actually want to do an exchange as I probably wouldn't mind the pinkish 'Fox'.

edited to ask: You shake your bottle before filling, don't you?

Hi Nellie,

My "Fox" is in Boston right now and I am in Austria, so I can't post a sample. But the color of mine is similar to this scan by the Writing Desk UK

http://www.thewritingdesk.co.uk/ink_cat/nood_fox.jpg

or, better yet, this sample here by "Inked Nib"

If you like it, my husband can mail you my ink from Boston, and you can mail yours there as well, as I am guessing you wouldn't want to ship it to Vienna. Mine is 95% full. It flows extremely well, is bulletproof and poses no problems what so ever. It's just not my favourite shade of red, so I would love to exchange it for a more orangey one. (And yes, I do shake the bottle)

Best,

QM2

interesting ink, thanks for the review

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
