Parker 51 Identification

I have a very dark blue 51 with a stainless steel cap which is about 10mm shorter than my other 51.

On the ?converter it says "press ribbed bar four times" the nib looks to be gold.

Is this a particular model or just production variation?

Just a guess

Cedar Blue Demi?

What's it say at the top of the barrel, made in USA or England

Pictures will help. Use the "Upload" button and follow the directions, after getting photos onto your computer and making sure that they're under 1 mb in size.

The color won't be Cedar Blue if it's an Aerometric (which this sounds like it is). My guess is that you've got a Midnight Blue Demi sized Aerometric. Not sure when they switched from saying "Press six times" to "Press four times"; if it doesn't say anything about using Superchrome ink, though, it's post-1956.

Go to www.parkercollector.com and click on the sidebar link for the 51 model. That's my first place to look for information on all things Parker. Also have a look at www.parker51.com and at www.richardspens.com and search for Parker 51.

Here are my 3 Parker 51's. The little one is in the middle and is a much darker blue than the pen on the bottom (my nice broad aerometric which I think is cedar blue).

The top pen is a vac but needs repair as the nib and feed are loose within the section.

No, not production variation. It is a particular model, a 51 Demi in midnight blue. I greatly enjoy mine, the Aero Demi being very much the right size for me, and hope you enjoy yours. They look pleasant, too.

Agreed. I think the bottom pen in the photos may be Teal.

On some of the colors, unless you've got the pen in daylight/sunlight, Plum, Midnight Blue and Forest Green can look like Black (ask me how I know... B)).

ETA: My first 51 was a Teal Aerometric. I thought it was Midnight Blue until I saw what Midnight Blue really looked like.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

The demi is a nice pen but with a fine or extra fine grade nib it won't see any use from me.
