I wish I didn't go for a 1.1 stub in 18k with my bulls for jim gaston. I had to replace it three times for not writing and the last one still doesn't write properly. I need to just send it in for grinding. But it is an interesting shape, made from unique woodgrain red ebonite, and finished wonderfully.

Ahh ... The Bexley Prometheus. One of my top five (5) pens.

Bexleys are...addictive. Some are quite plain, doppelgangers of vintage pen models, but that's their charm. And every one I have is very well-made. I smile every time I use my Prometheus in rosewood ebonite. That thing....I love it. I still can't believe I got it for as cheap as I did brand new (under $90!), when no one else bid on it on Ebay. If I have to write a long time, that's the pen I use because it's so darn comfortable to hold. I have multiple ground nibs for it now, and use whichever one I fancy in the flawless pen body.

 

I also have a Demeter (orange, looking like a 1920's Duofold) and a Poseidon Magnum II in Bronze Sands. The latter gets ooo's and ahhh's from the people that see it.

 

I have a Monarch en-route. After looking at it for literally years, I decided that I better get one before they disappear.

 

Some might say that the Bexleys that aren't made of interesting materials are a bit staid and boring, but I enjoy that vintage appeal. You buy a vintage pen, and it's great, but they can be fussy. Bexleys aren't fussy (at least mine aren't). I'd hunt some of the more unique ones, but honestly, I'm satisfied. Heck, I'd be satisfied if I only had the Prometheus in ebonite as my only pen for the rest of my life.

Wow Greg, that's some Bexley collection. I note quite a few Poseidons there and is that a Corona blueberry cream? You certainly have the Bexley bug.

 

I'd love to know what's your favourite Bexley model.

(all with 18K nibs)

it's surprisingly big and yet surprisingly comfortable

I have a couple of them and Howard keeps tempting me into other finishes with his prototype offers...

I was looking at the spooky nights just earlier tonight...

the flecked blue I recently got is just slightly less unique than my previous blue bamboo

but seen live it's an outstanding finish by itself

I have several other Bexleys, I too find them to be reliable fuss free pens, and I like the classic design they usually sport

After buying and trying May pens over the last 15 years, I only carry 6 Bexley pens. For me they are perfect in fit, finish and reliability. Any model seems to fit my requirements.

In your little cluster of green-yellow-white pens to the center-right of the top row (all styled after the Parker Duofold), you appear to be missing the Big Red (i.e., red) one. Did you acquire it since this picture was taken?

I have the same issue with my Gaston with 18k stub. However the stub is well reviewed. I have another on a non Gaston Bexley and its stunning
