Right Click With Meko Stylus Pen ?

Recommended Posts

dear all,

Under Ubuntu 12.04 I just held down the MEKO stylus pen with the model: Asin: B00N1BRWLA on Amazon and after a certain timeout interval (like two seconds) it right clicked.

For the life of me I can't figure out how to do it. Is there a magic gesture or secret key I have to press?

About the stylus:

Length:5.5"(140mm);

Pen tube diameter 0.35"(9mm);
Disc diameter: 0.27" (6.8mm) including 2mm rubber point ;
Fiber tip Diameter:0.24 (6mm)
Weight: 24g
Materiel: Made from stainless steel and Aluminum, no plastic parts, real pen feeling

I am very puzzled about this question.

Not quite sure what you are asking? The stylus is a pointing device, not a substitute for a 2-button mouse.

It works on tablets and phones with touch-screens, and probably on a touch-screen laptop as well.. but it is not a replacement for a mouse.

Where are you pressing in hopes of getting a right click response? And on what device??

Styli like these are passive devices meant to substitute your relatively stubby fingers with a small point that you can precisely maneuver.

Any special actions done are based on the settings of the device itself like, say, a quick double tap for a right click.

Those with a right click are a different breed of styli, like those found on Wacom drawing tablets.

hello bobs51,

thanks for your comment. According to your question, I have the such explanation.

There is no mouse on ipad, iphone or electrical devices.

I don't know why to use mouse on them.

However it is the stylus that can be used on ipad, iphone or electrical devices.

what is your idea ?

thanks for your discussion.

many thanks

Neoply... I'm not familiar with IPhone or IPad, as I use Android devices. But as far as I know there is no 'right click' on these devices as there is on a computer with mouse.

Perhaps someone more familiar with Apple devices will correct me, but I think you are looking for a function that does not exist. If you are able to select items, or letters on the keyboard of your devices, then the stylus is working as it should.

You also mention a Ubuntu Linux version which to my knowledge does not run on IPhone or IPad, so I am a bit confused. If you are using a computer running Linux with a touch screen, then the right click might work. It may require a double-tap or whatever your device requires as a right click signal.

Soz for late entry. I right click all the time with my disk stylus; use it exactly like the regular ball ones. It should work. The stylus is not supposed to trigger only a brief click, your hand does that.

If it insists on not working, though, try switching to holding CTRL and clicking. Obviously, that will only work on devices with a keyboard, but when it's available, it's a good substitute.

Where is it not working, though? Is it not working on 12.04, or did it used to work on 12.04, and you updated or something?

If you're still on a Linux distro, check what engine you're using to handle touchscreen input, and look for the settings for it. Maybe it was just switched off.

OP doesn't convey themselves well. They didn't mean that they were using iOS, they were just talking about how on mobile touchscreen devices, like iPads and iPhones using iOS, the long press is used as a substitute for right-clicking with a mouse, as opposed to simply "not existing, being part of a different methodology" like stuck-in-time had implied. They're emphasising that they want to have that kind of functionality.

I do agree that right-clicking is kajiggered through the settings and is not inherently on a stylus, but I don't agree that right-clicking is something a drawing tablet's stylus' other buttons is supposed to tackle. I don't think anyone just sets them to make a right click.

They're more of a like a convenient macro button on a gaming mouse.

Hmm... I think I'll pass, I don't really need a stylus for my mobile devices.

Now that you mentioned it, I guess so. Better use that button for keyboard substitutes like ctrl, shift, or spacebar. My Wacom is set to right click when you hold it down long enough, though. Like you would your finger on a mobile phone.
