Sheaffer Targa - Brass ?

TinyTim

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I just bought my first Targa. While I thought they came with 14knibs. Mine has turned out to be the 23k electroplated nib along with the gold electroplated body.

As I understand from sheaffertarga.com. This was a prototype/ done for gifting to companies etc. no longer worried that it might be a fake. (I found another thread which anyways comforted me on their being no fakes in the Sheaffer Targa).

Now for the question- Which pattern is this, from SheafferTarga.com. It appears that the design corresponds to the brass one, my question is were those then electroplated with gold ?

It seems to be the Gold plated Impérial with a straight line pattern, slightly différent from the 1005 fluted pattern. It is a "no model number" that you can find at the end of the Quick référence list, and in the list by finishes of metals-gold plate.

The Impérial brass (1020) is completely smooth and has the terms "Imperial Brass" engraved in a circle on the cap.

And the brass came with a brass carrying case as well as a brass cartridge case.

Yes thanks bebe0953 that’s the one. I missed it on the website. In the description it says 22kt electroplated nib, mine says 23k electroplated nib.

Thanks Jar. This cake without any box or pump will have to use one from some other Sheaffer pen.

I have a Targa 1005 finish with a made in Australia 23k gold electroplated nib. Would that be a prototype?

If you look at the botom of this page of the Sheaffertarga site, it exists 18 different inlaid nibs for Targa.

I often encountered a nib different from the 14-carat solid gold nib which is indicated in the descriptions of that site. The 23-carat gold elctroplated nibs are not exceptional on a classic model, and 18-carat nibs are usualy found on the items sold in France to be in compliance with the local regulations.
