The color comparison......

I like that image. Before, I thought we were in some kind of weird 1970s behavioral experiment ...

But isn't the black black just sexy because it is paired with the orange stripes? If you cover up the orange, the image is much less compelling.

As an afterthought ... I think the Lamy marketing team is deliberately messing with our heads. First the "Black Amber," then "Olive Silver," and now "All Black." Lamy knows that it's not enough to have pretty colors, you need myths that take up more conceptual space than mere colors. Mysterious suggestions that occupy compulsive minds and increase sales.

Lamy has officially announced the special edition White Joy in the USA, via a post on Facebook. They claim it is in stock at the San Francisco store. It is also available as a gift set containing three nib sections with (1.1/1.5/1.9) stub widths, and some colored ink cartridges (blue/turquoise/purple).

According to this italian reseller, Lamy will be offering a special edition All Black ink. Don't think it's an april fools joke, it'd be a day late.

I checked the LAMY item number. It's the standard black. No SE black.

They should at least pack a black ink cartridge with the All Black Safari instead of the usual blue.

Not the best lighting here in the office but you can see the difference. It is actually very obvious how brown the Umbra is.

I think you can mold this pen in any color and it will always look good. Especially in matte finish.

Yup. Considering all the catastrophic pen designs out there, this 70s pen looks fresh every time. Pretty amazing.

What a cool pen!

The 2018 look nice but I would have like it better if they go for an even darker black. The 2018 is not that different from the 1984 charcoal color. It is still very nice but not that different though.

Are you serious? It's totally black. It can't get blacker.

It’s a matte texture black, so it might look slightly lighter than gloss black would. But personally I like the textured Safari far more. I do wonder how quickly the texture smoothes out where touched and shows shine.

That's good news, I'm quite fond of using my Petrol and Lilac Safaris.

That's probably it. Maybe it's just my eye is more sensitive to shade of black. Don't get me wrong, I not saying this is not black per see but there are different level of black. Any, each to his own I guess, it is still a nice pen and I will pick it up when I have the chance.
