Copy Of Pierre Cardin President Pen?

Krone

Recommended Posts

So I recently bought a bunch of old pens for a good price, but I haven't been able to determine them all.

The pen that sparked my attention when I bought the bundle was this one, a black and gold brandless(?) pen.

when looking on the internet i found it looked exactly like the Pierre Cardins President pen (there were some other Pierre Cardin pens in the bundle) but there is not a single name brand on it.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible that this pen is a (cheap) replica, or maybe another brand?

Indeed, this pen (as well as the Pierre Cardin President) does replicate a much more well known pen ;-)

Which is...? I'm still pretty new to all of this and I don't immediately recognize every pen out there.

I don't mean to sound rude or anything, I'm just curious.

It's an authentic Pierre Cardin President fountain pen. That said, Pierre Cardin doesn't put their name on high quality fountain pens any more and the President model regularly sells for under $20.

Well I doubt one can call this a copy of Montblanc or whoever .. this type of generic cigar shaped profile on a pen is almost universal and no one is copying anyone. Pretty much the same for all the straight flat top or those so 80's slender straight rod

What stuck me was that even the arrangement of the rings have been copied faithfully from the original.

To the OP - sorry for sounding cryptic / snarky. The Montblanc 14X series is the most replicated pen shape in the FP world with even biggies like Sailor and Platinum breathing their flagship models on this shape. The Montblanc 144 and the corresponding ball points are also the pens where you are as likely to get a fake as an original if you are not careful.

the President tested and described here seems to be different:

I agree with everyone stating that the shape and rings are often seen and "copied", but what sparked my attention was the nib of the pen, it does look exactly like the Pierre Cardins President pen, and not so much like the mont blancs. I am 90% sure the rings and the cap clip (?) are not gold, but I guess I could get the nib checked to see if it is actually worthless or not.

Anyways, thanks for all your responses, I will soon make a thread with other pens from that collection.

Well, it's either a very cheap pen, or a copy of a very cheap pen. Does it really matter either way?
