Hi, Folks!

There are quite a few Sheaffer Legacy pens, so I thought I would start a thread and include a few of the less common ones. Which ones do you like? Post some pics!

This is a Sheaffer Legacy Heritage King's Gold GT fountain pen c2003. The King's Gold finish starts with a sandblasted brass base pen that is engraved with a diamond pattern and then 23 karat gold electroplated leaving a satin finish with a deeply cut design. The trim is also 23 karat gold electroplated. It is a cartridge / converter pen, model 9033, fitted with a solid 18 karat gold Inlaid nib that was available in fine, medium and broad nib grades. It's 5 3/8 inches long. Retail price was $225.

I bought this one BNOS in June. It's a Legacy Version 1 in silver interrupted barley with GP trim. It has a factory stub nib. It's a TD filler :)

Hi everybody.

Here is a set of Legacy 2 fountain pen, ballpoint pen and roller ball pen in the burnished copper finish. I have always been interested in completing the set with a matching mechanical pencil, but perhaps it was never made. I have seen a page of what appears to be a catalog page showing the Legacy 2 product line, and the pictures show only FPs BPs and RBs, however the use and care guide also addresses mechanical pencils. Andreas Lambrou, in his book on Fountain Pens of the US and UK, page 139, says that the product line in 1999 was offered in fountain pen, roller ball and ballpoint.

If someone would have a catalog dated from 1999 to 2002, it would help in finding an answer.

Cheers

Victor

Thank you Jim.

I find it interesting that a pencil was not considered for the Legacy 2 line and the Intrigue product line was offered in the four writing modes and the pencil was quite special. The advance mechanism works by twisting or automatically just pushing the lead as you write.

Victor.

I own this model too. But mine has a broad nib. It is part of the "trendsetter" range.

Hi, Folks!

Another 2004 throwback photo!

This is a Sheaffer Legacy Heritage Look of Leather Formal Black fountain pen c. 2004-2006. The Look of Leather pens are virtually a special edition where Sheaffer sent Legacy Heritage blanks to a partner in Asia, first going to a small shop that does an undercoating on the cap and barrel blanks that are then sent to a specialty finish shop where the heavy leather patterned lacquer finish is applied. The painted caps and barrels were then sent back to Fort Madison, Iowa for inspection and final assembly. Four finishes, including Formal Black, Brushed Brown, Reassuring Blue and Burgundy were made. Brown and burgundy pens had gold plated trim and black and blue pens had palladium plated trim and nibs. This pen is a cartridge / converter pen, model 9040, fitted with a solid 18 karat gold palladium plated Inlaid nib that was available in fine and medium nib grades. It's 5 3/8 inches long. Retail price in 2004 was $200.

Hi, Folks!

This is an unpublished photo from 2005.

This is a Sheaffer Legacy Heritage Victorian Special Edition fountain pen in sterling silver, announced August 1, 2005. The sterling silver cap and barrel are engraved to recreate the style seen on many Victorian Era silver and fabric items, with intricate filigree elements on a detailed barleycorn background and features palladium electroplated trim. The cap band is stamped SHEAFFER, STERLING SILVER, and USA. It is a 5 3/8 inch long cartridge / converter pen, model 9044, fitted with a solid 18 karat gold palladium plated medium grade Inlaid. Retail price in 2005 was $450. A matching rollerball pen was also offered for $375.

I took a very quick pic to assist a friend doing some pen hunting, showing three Sheaffer Legacy pens in various formats. (descriptions below)

iFCtvajh.jpg

From top to bottom:

  • a "Fantasy" Legacy pen crafted by Jim Rouse. Jim had gotten a hold of a bunch of caps and nib units and, during off time from work on Franklin-Christoph pens, made barrels out of various cool materials. He sold them mostly at pen shows, and I got this from him in LA about 5 years ago (see more info from last pen).
  • this is a LE pen made for noted pen collector Jim Gaston in the 90s, in a run of 50. It is a cobalt blue lacquer over a brass barrel, many layers of lacquer leading to a really deep finish. A standard "modified Touchdown" Legacy that can either use their squeeze converter or a cartridge. Being that there were so few of these made, it took me seven years to find this one, fortunately a NOS pen!
  • Legacy in sandblasted platinum finish. This pen was NOS and actually a rollerball. I did some checking and, sure enough, I was able to effect a swap with the nib unit on the Rouse pen. The rb refill barely fits in Jim's barrel... but it does! And since I use carts with the fps, it is nice to have a solid barrel with no lines interrupting for the blind cap.

As expected, the nibs are great writers, one M, one F. The pens, with metal bodies, clock in around 37 grams, which is heavier than I usually write with but the girth of the section is perfect for long sessions, so it never seems to be a problem. They just settle in hand. Very glad to have this trio.

Beautiful pens. Thanks for sharing them. Legacy pens are my grails, and I've found sometimes you can get better deals on a rollerball and swap the sections as you did.

Jim or anyone with an original catalog or other Sheaffer info circa late 1990s………

This request is regarding the Legacy 1 - Model 842-1 - This is a roller ball pen - Black Lacquer barrel with Brushed Gold cap.

My request - I am trying to document the original MSRP (price) for this model in this finish.
Thank You in advance,
