Fake Montblanc

Can anybody please measure his/her Montblanc 146 for me?

I want to update this page: https://mkepens.blogspot.com/2017/09/now-what-is-this.html

I am trying to prove that measuring length and weighing can show if you have a fake Montblanc or not.

At least I think this should be a MB 146 fake. If not, please tell me.

I would like get the following data - please use scales which show 0.1g units:

length
total; uncapped; cap, nib, feed section, barrel

diameter
cap, barrel; nib

weight
total, cap, feed section including nib, barrel, converter

Thank you

The 146 changed length during its life, even if we don't count the much shorter celluloid version. I am guessing weight would also vary between the two lengths.

As raddick and Driften say it's not possible to prove that measuring can show you fakes.

But having a "Montblanc 146" with a converter proves that this is a fake.

BTW, the shown pen in your link looks more like a 145 than a 146 - but still is a fake.

Thank you, everybody. Lesson learned.

And the friend now needs to tell everybody that he has a MB 145 FAKE not a 146 FAKE.

And the lengths are very close to the reported data of a real 145 - in brackets are the measured data of the fake.

145 Konverterfuellfederhalter Classique \"Chopin\"
length ca. 138 mm (137)
cap diameter ca. 13 mm (13)
barrel diameter ca. 11,5 mm (12)

The German site didn't report the weights, so I don't know if they are also such close.

The fake was identified before as fake because the engravings of the trim band and the nib are not clear.

Also the gold coating on the backside of the nib is very irregular.

In addition, the serial number of the pen is known on the web as a number of fake MBs.
