Namiki Emperors

Two of my favorite pens both with FM nibs. Both the pen and the nib are spectacular! The second image is a size comparison.

Beautiful photographs of a beautiful object. Have you compared the Emperor with the Sailor KOP?

Love all, trust a few, do harm to none. Shakespeare

How's it feel when full of writing fluids? Weight and balance wise I mean.

I am taking the liberty to answer this, I hope the original poster does not mind.

I have the Vermillion one with the same nib. It is the single best writing pen that I have, so much that I haven't bought another pen since buying it in March 2016. The pen weighs around 50grams when filled with ink. Though it may seem huge and unwieldy, the balance is impeccable. It does not feel heavy while writing and you can easily use it for longer writing session.

Mine has seen considerable use, and has written over 400 A4 pages (I maintain a record of number of pages I write with each of my pen - one page will only be written with a single pen and ink). I bought a Nakaya in 2014 and that has seen little use after I bought the emperor. :)

I would not mind buying another one, this time a Maki-e. :)

Very nice pen. I never heard about an Exupery before?

You are not sure you have never heard of it? ;)

It is the latest Writers Edition Montblanc pen this year, not a separate brand or anything.

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm leaning very heavily towards picking up an Emperor soon. It doesn't seem like there's much of a substitute for that #50 nib.
