Herea re the two pens, side by side, lined up at the bottom in order to compare length.

Here is a comparison of nibs and sections:

The Yukari is certainly a beauty. I owned one a while back but eventually sold it - I found the brass made it a bit too heavy for my taste. I prefer ebonite pens.

I'm going to ink up my #50 tomorrow, come what may!

I look forward to hearing about it and maybe even seeing a photo or two!

Oh, man, that #50 nib looks fantastic. I really need to get an Emperor one day .... probably be a good while before I'll be able to get around to it though. I normally prefer flat-tops but with every other part of the pen being so great, I could make an exception.

Well, I managed to ink the Namiki #50, but not without getting a lot of Asa-gao all over my fingers The medium nib is absolutely perfect.

The next challenge is to ink the even larger Danitrio Genkai in the red Kawari-nuri finish. I plan to fill that one with Bung-Box Piano Mahogany, which matches the color almost perfectly.

Unfortunately, I can be just as clumsy with an eyedropper as without one.

  • 3 weeks later...

Carrying an emperor around is quite problematic, it doesn't fit into a pocket to be clipped easily, doesn't fit into an leather case I have, and doesn't fit in any of my nockco cases either (sinclair and lookout). Luckily I have a spare pen kimono from a Nakaya that seems to work in a pinch :)

Having tried both the Yukari Royale and the Emperor, I honestly love writing with the Emperor aside from the massive nib, its section is perfect in my hand.

Regards,
