Hi, folks!

Was digging through my old pen photos after migrating to a new iMac and stumbled onto some pics I took of several Classic Pens CP models.
This is the Classic Pens CP7 Pacific, a truly spectacular pen, based on the Sailor 80.

Are the later CP pens made with a thing layer of silver around aluminum base? I didn't see any hallmark on CP7 pens.

No. What makes you think that? Sterling silver blanks for the caps and barrels are engraved in France by Murelli. They are not silver plated or silver filled aluminum core.

The cap fell off on my cp7 due to aging and I checked the inside surface of the cap. It doesn't change color at all and there's almost no mark for oxidation.

But the end of the pen has signif oxidation on the inner surface.

You can really see the Sailor heritage. Love the old style Sailor nib stamping.

I've posed your question to Andy Lambrou to clarify this.

Thanks!

According to Andy Lambrou, the cap and barrel are made out of sterling silver. Sailor sent special instructions to Murelli, the engraver, on how to pack the silver tubes, for their return to Japan, after Murelli engraved them.

How heavy is the pen? Silver is incredibly heavy and would make the pen weigh a ton if it was solid.

Hi Folks!

Thought I would post some more shots of these pens. Here is another shot from 2006.

The Classic Pens CP7 Atlantic and Pacific Pens were based on the sterling silver Sailor 80 and released as a two-pen set in 2003. The Sailor 80 is a streamlined version of the Sailor Profit, introduced in 1991 on Sailor’s 80th anniversary. Sailor is one of the three top pen makers in Japan, noted particularly for the quality of their nibs. The Pacific is engraved with a moiré vague pattern which evokes the placid waves of the Pacific Ocean. The density and complexity of the Atlantic Flamme Vague engraving is intended to reflect the turbulent nature of the Atlantic Ocean. The guilloche engraving was done by the Murelli company of France. Only 250 sets were made. The 21 karat gold nib was originally offered with seven standard grades: extra fine, fine, medium-fine, medium, broad, zoom and music. The cap band has CP7 and the individual edition number engraved.
