Please can anyone help me to identify this pen.

It is from a collection of just under 100 pens mostly Parkers I have just inherited.

I have identified all but 2 pens, this is one.

The colour is Burgundy ( Parker code 14 )

The cap is rolled gold – rear is marked -1/10 12CT R.GOLD MADE IN ENGLAND with Halo and arrow , front - PARKER

The RG tassie is a slightly inverted conical shape.

The ink sac guard is marked :

PARKER

TO FILL PRESS RIBBED BAR AT LEAST 5 TIMES

THE PARKER PEN CO.LTD

LONDON ENGLAND

The measurements ( in mm ) length is 122 cap 55 - measured closed, the barrel 73 & lower shell 38

A great many thanks for your time.

I don't have my 51s readily available to measure, but the 'short' 51s could be a demi or the smaller sub-demi (this is my term, as I don't know the name of it.

Upon second glance I see that the cap has a P45 like conical tassie (that was also used on later production English aero Duofolds but with P45 like clips), a P17 like clip and a P51 MKIII like clutch ring. The barrel and hood also look like that of a MKIII 51. But these may also belong to a P17 as gueimer1 said above (minus the clutch ring as the 17 has a plain, raised clutch ring if metal). The filler, no doubt, looks like the one found on the English aero Duofold pens including the P17s. The "press ribbed bar at least 5 times" is the clue.

I havent seen as yet a 51 with the "... at least 5 times ..." instructions on the filler shroud.

So what is the pen? A frankenpen or a transition P17? May it be a P17 Lady with rolled gold cap given its 'small' size? Cant say anything for sure. Hope others with more knowledge would chime in.

Hi again,

I greatly appreciate the help from those members who have commented.

I have a good sized collection of standard Parker 17/21/45/61/51

The only pen it looks like in almost and every respect is a Parker 51 Mark III but it is nearly one inch shorter ( 24mm ) and a lot slimmer, all most made for a child.

The only thing that is different is the slightly inverted conical tassie – I thought 51 Mk III only ever had a conical dome ( as does the 21 and 61 ).

The cap fits the barrel perfectly – none of the other Parker pens I own does.

I believe this cap is the correct one for this pen.

Thanks again.

I believe this is a P17 Lady Custom; it looks correct for an English-made model.

Most probably. But the threads on the connector for the barrel are different from those found on the connector of a P17 Lady. These look like those on a 51 MKIII connector.

Thank you for posting. It's a beautiful pen, I'm glad I got to see it, and i learned something new.

There was a version of the P17 Lady with the connector and gold clutch ring that's shown in the OP's pictures. I've heard it called the P17 Lady Standard although I've never known if that was an official designation. The barrel was slightly longer and more tapered.

After much further research and more detailed comparsions with Parker 17 and 21's I have come to think this pen is as 'hood' says - a Lady 17 Custom.

The filling system is as correctly pointed out - a Parker 17 type only alot smaller version.

I have looked at both the early and later version of the 17 deluxe ( one with the P51 MkIII style cap ) - it is not the same pen.

The only thing that still nags at me is the hood is not shaped like any 17 I have seen and barrel screws number, it is 9. No other parker pens I have more than 6 ( P51 )

Once again many thanks for your time, it is greatly appreciated.

Here are a couple of threads that show more of these. The first thread shows several examples of the Lady Standard model including a Custom with chalkmarks (you can just make out the word 'custom'), and the second thread shows both types of the Lady models side by side so you can see the differences in the hood shape and barrel shape.

With regard to the threads for the barrel, this picture is from a recent ebay listing, linked below, for the same type as you have only with the later P45-style cap, which has the same threads as yours.

And this picture is from another recent listing for the other type with the same threads as Mitto's (along with a P17, not two Lady models as the listing says).
