Depending on how the Petrol looks for real (i.e., vs. in the picture) I could see me maybe getting that color. The Pacifica? Very likely....

At least the "petrol" is not an eyesearing neon :)

btw where in the world does petrol come that blue? (Same with DeAtrementis Petrol ink)

It's all just added food colouring but everywhere around AsiaPacific where I've poured petrol into a translucent container it's usually pink, yellow or purple! Plus it stains the piston/liner & carburettor insides too.

The Petrol definitely looks interesting! I, too, wait eagerly for the official photos what will literally shed more light on the particular hue.

It's also great that Lamy seems to be going back to black clips (with Dark Lilac this year and Petrol in the next).

Hero #232 Blue-Black is my Waterman Florida Blue.

Your Kilometrage May Vary (#ykmv), a Philippine blawg about ink and fountain pens.

I like the black clips too (less evocative of paper clips, I suppose). My favorite is still the charcoal gray with the black clip - very snazzy.

"Petrol" is German for "teal", nothing to do with "petrol" as understood in English, it's a "false friend"!

Ah—this would make a lot of sense. I was scratching my head as to why they'd name it after oil, but seeing that it means teal makes a great deal more sense. Maybe they'll name it 'dark teal' or something along those lines then.

I agree, it always befuddles me a bit when they keep the "petrol" for English or other non-German markets... Causes loads of confusion, to say the least, and doesn't fit.. Maybe they don't check whether it's a good translation, but then that's sloppy work..

I honestly doubt they will, because, as you said it would be rather sloppy marketing—especially since petrol does no longer have a very good English connotation.

I'd expect them to change it for non-German markets—it would make no sense otherwise.

If you have petrol (fuel) on water the light will shimmer bluish from it. Hence the German name, I think.
