I will take a closer look at these two classy ST Dupont Defi pens next week. Which one would you choose? Carbon fibre, or Grille? Do someone know the price on these pens (£) ?

I chose the Titanium model, not shown above.

I did not choose the Grille, thinking dirt might cake in the holes.

I wanted the CF, but cost was a bit high.

I am very satisfied with the Titanium. I suppose it could be dented, however.

In any case, I am very pleased with the feel, the flow, the feed and nib. WOW. This is a very, very nice pen.

I have recently been attempting to purchase the above 2 FP's...

Several Pen co's have them on their web site, but when they went to fill the order they found they were not in stock, AND their Distributor had none, AND they had been discontinued.

I was able to purchase ONE of the Black w/Palladium....which I really really enjoy.

The related potentially complicated issue is that the DEFI Fountain Pen has been re-designed, BUT they are still calling it the DEFI...?This is going to be confusing ...the old style Defi and the New Style Defi.

From I have learned so far, is that the Old Style is out of production and out of the distribution pipe line.....and I couldn't find any at on line stores except the Blk/Palladium that I purchased.

One model (Black w/Palladium) of the New Style is just being released to the Distributors and the Retailers...with at least one other model (Gun Metal) to follow. No one seems to know if there will be any additional models (color/finish)

The primary difference between the old style and new style is :

clip- old style clip is on the cap...new style the clip is attached to the body, and the cap looks like a cone.

The nibs/sections are the same old style/new style

The Old style that I received is a 400674 (Blk composite/Palladium)

I believe the new style (Blk composite/Palladium) is 400675 (I should receive mine later this week)

and not yet released the New Style in Gun Metal 400707 (I should receive mine within 2 weeks)

The Old style 400674 that I purchased I really like...in fact I must say, I now have several Dupont Fountain Pens, and I love each of them....they are really a very much under rated, and under discussed fountain pen. Right out of the box...NO Issues on any of them...smooth nibs, consistent ink flow, incredibly well made, great attention to detail...

If anyone learns anything else, or finds a source for the old style please let me know (feel free to PM)

Yes, the New Style Defi FP looks more in line now with the Ball Pen, etc...the rest of the collection.

But the cap does look a little different when the Pen is uncapped.

I'll report back after I receive my first of the New Style Defi...

  • 1 month later...

Does anyone own the Defi Grille? 1st post on top of pages, lower image..?

I have an opportunity to purchase the Grille or the Titanium (both Old version of Defi)

I was wondering if on the Grille the small opening in the finish collect dirt/dust etc...

Thanks

Bill
