Levenger Facets

Good morning, all.

I was lucky enough to pick up three of the Levenger Facets when they recently went on sale for $19. Thanks for the heads up, s_t_e_v_e. I ordered them on 28 June and received them yesterday – not bad for $6 ground shipping. Here’s a very quick first look which I hesitate to call a review.

 

I’ve used Levenger products before, but I don’t think I’ve ever had one of their pens, so I didn’t know quite what to expect, but expectations were pretty high. For just under $20, it’s worth the gamble.

I ordered the Olive (fine); the Midnight blue (medium) and the Onyx (medium) pens. The first pen I opened was the Midnight Blue. I actually said, out loud, “What a beautiful pen!” It really is a looker. Considering that I usually don’t care for silver-toned trim on my pens, I’m very pleasantly surprised at just how attractive these pens are. Across the board, the material shows a depth of color that’s truly beautiful.

 

My only disappointment came when I uncapped the pen. For the size of the body, the nib seems undersized and slightly disproportionate. I’m sure the nibs would look beautiful on a smaller pen, but this seems to want something slightly larger.

 

After just dipping the pens, I have to say that the nibs are very nice to write with: very smooth, not at all scratchy, and no skips (other than when the dip ran out of ink – my fault, not the pen’s). I’m happy that I was able to get a fine nib to try, but personal preference will lead me to use medium nibs more often.

I would have paid full price for the pens, I would have given them 8/10; points off for the tiny nib. But for the price, they’re a solid 10+!

Nice review! and I'm glad to be able to let others know about this awesome deal Levenger had. I got the Midnight Blue and Onyx, both in medium and they write fantastically. I do agree that they could've used a #6 size nib instead of the the #5 nib. This nib looks better on the slightly smaller True Writer pen. The way it writes makes up for it as far as I'm concerned
