Refill And Eraser For Parker 45 Flighter Pencil ... Where Can I Get Some Please?

I have Googled until my eyes crossed but cannot find anywhere to get the original refills that have the eraser in the cap for this Parker 45 Flighter (IIL, 1993, Made in UK) mechanical pencil. Someone long ago seems to have snapped the existing one off within its seating. Does some kind person know where I could find a replacement please? http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b80/madmudmob/AVATARS%20ETC/icon_question_zpstyd2xrm9.gif

As a secondary thought ... is there a knack to using these pencils as I continually break the lead however light handed I try to be. Or, as I suspect, am I just plain heavy-handed? I bought some generic refill leads but wonder if they perhaps come in a thicker type and if this pencil would accept them if it did?

I have some P45 FPs but no MP.

Many many years ago as a young poor boy I made my own erasers with a rubber eraser block and a leather punch of the right size, just punched the eraser block and pushed out the little things from the punch and inserted those in place of the old one.

I am not sure what size lead your P45 has. It should have the correct size: too thin and it will fall out, too thick, you can't get it in.

Your picture is a bit hazy when enlarged. So I can't make a good comparison, but I would say it uses .7mm leads.

Any decent brand will work. The trick is not to extend too much lead when writing. 2 mm is enough, usually. The sorter it is, the less chance of breakage. Some brands lead are much more brittle. Browse around here in this forum, there have been several topics on lead qualities.

Thank you so much for replying, RMN, that's a great idea to cut my own erasers and I'm sure I will fill an afternoon getting it just right. The leads I have neither drop out nor get stuck so I suspect they are right and I need to practice with a shorter length and a lighter hand.

When it comes to me taking pictures I am always chuffed to bits if they come out at all so can only apologise for any fuzziness :)

Off for a browse on lead qualities as you suggest.
