Parker Vintage Ballpoints

Hello Parker forum!

I'm considering adding an old (at least as old as me) Parker ballpoint to the collection. Presently, I'm finding myself drawn towards the 75 cisele. This pen would be for using.

It seems there are quite a few variations of this pen. The biggest difference I can think of is button activated vs cap activated?

I wouldn't mind having a pen that was a little more collectible and made in 1976 or earlier.

Which one, if any, would you go for?

As far as I know, the 75 ciselé BP was cap actuated. The button version is not 75 but Parker Classic.

I'm not sure that, strictly speaking, the Parker 75 ballpoint ever came in a button-actuated version; the instrument that resembles such a pen I believe was the Classic/International/International Classic.

My favorite Parker ballpoint is thr Duofold Centennial/International cap-actuated ballpoint. Here's a photo of one.

Thanks for posting that ad -- the permutations of 75 , Classic, and International seem to be many and varied!

That's Parker! I'll never understand why they changed the name on a seemingly weekly basis

I had seen this add somewhere some time ago. And after seeing this add I did pair my Classic (or 75) button acutuated ciselè ballpoints with some of my 75 ciselé FPS.

Get a Jotter. A Coral or White first year ribbed nylon barrel example is still considered collectable.

According to David Shepherd's book on the Parker Jotter the button version was referred to as the 75 Classic in the USA and the International in the UK (unless stated otherwise :)).

Thanks for the great info fellow forumites. --Will definitely read through that Parker collector website.

I know I'd like to add a click pen to the collection, so I'm narrowing down things a little.

I'll probably find a lot of pens I like on that website. :)

Here's is a P75 Sterling Silver Cap actuated pen. Flat top on the cap.

They do exist.

This pen was my Grandmothers and was found by my Mother in Granny's purse after she passed on.

My 75/Classic Ciselé/Vermeil FP+BP herd. The two sets on the left (with cap acuated BPs) are flat top. The one on the far right is a Sterling Vermeil. And the next two (from right), as can be seen, are Classic/75 button actuated BPs.

The Cisele's are nice, but whether you get or of those or not, careful searching on ebay will yield 61, 45 and unmarked equivalent jotters for less than $10 shipped (sometimes way less), and these are common thrift store and estate sale finds. I have both cap and button clickers, and they just keep working (and they do better left in a hot car than a fountain pen). You probably need a handful. ;-)
