Thanks for the review. It reflects my own views on this pen. I purchased the same model as the one you show for Christmas but with a fine nib and it is excellent. It cost £179 in the UK. I also bought the gold version a couple of years ago from Amazon at a cost of £89 which was amazing. Both excellent pens but I prefer the silver version.

Favourite pens in my collection (in alpha order): Caran d'Ache Ecridor Chevron F and Leman Black/Silver F; Parker 51 Aerometric M and F; Parker 61 Insignia M, Parker Duofold Senior F; Platinum #3776 Century M; Sailor 1911 Black/Gold 21 Kt M; Sheaffer Crest Palladium M/F; Sheaffer Prelude Silver/Palladium Snakeskin Pattern F; Waterman Carene Deluxe Silver F

Beautiful pen and an excellent review! I think you've set a new standard for the format. I am especially pleased with the quality of the photos.

I note that the nib on the pen does not align with the "button" on the end of the pen. I own five of the Carenes and prefer that mine line up. You may not but if you do I can provide information as to how to do it.

Thanks again for the great review!

Best,

John

Thank you. About the alignment i did not give a thought so far, perhaps I had over-tightened. Guess unscrewing the barrel a little will do the alignment, with O-rings between the coupler and barrel there would not be loose fitting. But have to actually check.

Nice Review, Nice pen. This is in my Wish list. First priority is Faber-Castell Ondoro Orange, then this.

Thanks. I do not have an Ondoro , looks to me with such small section comfort levels for actual use will be less compared to this pen. However that need not be correct!

Thank you for sharing this review Soumitra-da. I have only heard consistently positive reviews about the Carene and its great to hear of another happy customer. What pleases me even more is to learn that such an excellent pen is being made in India. Hope to see more such local production soon and especially a locally produced Duofold.

The parts will be made in France. I suspect the parts are imported and assembled in India. Maybe that way it avoids some sort of import tax.

Are you absolutely sure about that ? Weird as it may sound, typically Indian taxation favours importation of completed products rather than components for all sectors other than automobiles and alchoholic beverages.

Can you really post the cap? I couldn't post my lacquered caps. They fall off.

The coupler or the sleeve in the section is provided for alignment of the dot on the end of barrel with the nib. I had read a thread here about it, which I had shared with Dr. Soumya Mukherjee. He was able to do it IIRC.
