Hello,

What kind of glue/compound use for restoration of nib unit?
Whan have been used in Sheaffer's factory for nib fixing?

Thanks for any information.

I see the end of the nib is bent - that should be straightened before the nib unit is reassembled.

We use shellac to secure the nib on the collar. The nib should be screwed on so that it is fairly snug.

To seal the threads in the barrel, Sheaffer used, and we do too, a rosin based thread sealant. Shellac will set too hard and make it very difficult if not impossible to remove without damaging the nib assembly or pen, even with the right tools. The stuff I use and sell is made using the ingredients and formula that Sheaffer used.

Of coarse, the nib will be straightened and brought into the order.

Not clear. Is it shellac? Too much differece between inner size of nib and outer diameter of the collar. At first this place was filled with some solid compound.

There were rather reliable connection taking into account a small contact area, so it was possible to pull/insert the feed.

I can't see enough detail - the pictures are too small. There should not be a gap between the nib and the nib mount/collar. If there is, something is missing, either in the nib or on the nib mount. Some nibs have threads soldered in the nib that screw onto the mount/collar. Some collars have a smooth tapered ring that the nib is pressed onto, and the back edge rolled over to hold it in place. It sounds like the nib needs to be replaced.

Ok. Thanks for reply.
The plastic nib mount/collar has thread and inner surface of the nib is flat. According to your information in this
case the thread that has been soldered inside the nib is absent. This nib needs to be replaced.
