But my case was not that I don't like all these inks! In fact, I am having a super hard time deciding which one I like best. And then there's Shocking Blue, and DC Electric Blue...

In fact I am so happy that there are so many shades of blue ink, and so many of us that enjoy a lot of them, so there will be no shortage of lovely blue inks to choose from... even if you don't also make mixes!

When I started this thread, I hadn't intended it to be "find a replacement" but more of see how different the same ink can look when on the page with others, and as a baseline to see how others look. It is neat to see how the thread has morphed and how much information has been accumulated.

If it hasn't been tried yet, I'd be willing to mix Noodler's Liberty's Elysium with Pelikan Edelstein Topaz to see what comes out. I don't have a sample of PPS to compare though. I'm thinking the Noodlers L.E. needs just a touch of *something* to get it that much closer to PPS. It's so dang close as it is...Maybe the Topaz will impart some shading characteristics or give just a touch of "pop" to the L.E. (which I feel is lacking). The PPS seems more vibrant...anyway, I'll try to give it a shot by this weekend. I'm thinking 4 parts L.E. and 1 part Topaz...

I was waiting to chime in again until a sample of PPS that I ordered from an auction house arrived. Unfortunately the seller did not carry through with the sale.

 

I mixed up some of Amberledavis' 4:1 Navajo Turquoise and La Couleur Royale and compared it to PR American Blue. The color is very, very close but I have an intangible feeling that the Faux Noodlers Penmyn has a bit more shading.

 

I need more nib time on the paper to be sure....
