1940S French Quink Bottle

Probably my favourite bottle of Quink so far.

I remember reading somewhere that the Parker

boutique in Paris commissioned French glass makers

to produce bottles for them.

I believe this to be such a bottle.

Unless of course someone knows different

Standard 2oz bottle for scale.

Really a GREAT bottle! You should be VERY proud of this one. I suspect even seeing it is a "fist" for many of us. I know it makes me wish I had been interested in fountain pens the last time I visited the Paris flea market.

Seriously awesome bottle! I did not such as this even existed (my vintage Quink bottles mostly look like this:

and I know they're from the same time period as yours, because some of them are for Microfilm Black Ink for V-mail).

The only one that's different (and still not as cool as yours) is the 8 oz. bottle of Quink Violet, which looks like a large-size "Boston round" bottle, only with a rubber stopper instead of a standard cap. I had to decant the contents into smaller bottles because the bottle was missing any way to pour the contents (there's a small "cap" on top of the rubber stopper, covers a nipple with holes in it (I presume for some sort of pouring nozzle).

Yours looks like it should be containing some exotic tasting liqueur.... Not something as prosaic as ink.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

I think that bottle needs to go on a diet!

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

Would be interesting to see the 8oz violet bottle,

being from this side of the pond I'm lost by the

Boston round description.

I'm hoping there are a few more of the

Paris commission bottles awaiting discovery,

if indeed that's what it is.
