Please Help With Model # Of My Mont Blanc

I received this Mont Blanc as a gift 1997. On the box it does not say the model #. Also there is nothing written under the clip.

The nib says: 14K/ct 585

At the base of the cap it says: Mont Blanc Germany Classic

Would anyone be able to tell how much this pen is worth?

Thanks in advance.

A Classic, particularly if the cap is not cracked where the clip is inserted. is probably worth $85.00-100.00.

It is a Classic, as is written in the box and ring.

Thanks I was under the impression that all Mont Blanc fp would have a model #

Thank you, my fp was used about 8 times and no crack. I am not selling it, just curious how much it is worth.

Would you how much it was full price?

The Classic was one of the pens that were based on the 60-70s slim pens. The first series were two digit pens with the first digit indicating the market segment (1. 2 or 3) and the second digit being length (2 or 4).

Next came a three digit series that were all the same length.

The Classic followed at that point and it in turn morphed int the Generations and finally the modern Cruise Collection.

Thanks so much, I appreciate reading about this. I received it in 1997, wrote couple times with it and forgot about it until last Fall. Now I want to use it this year. This pen writes so well.

Your impression is correct. Montblanc always assigns a number, despite the names. The model number of your pen is 13100R. The number designates the Euro Classic (not Classique) fountain pen, and the R suffix refers to the bordeaux color. There are a matching ballpoint (13200R) and pencil (13400R).

Hi Fred,

that helps a lot. I got the pen and since I put it aside I did not really research any of this info before. Since I am back using fp now I like to know where they come from etc. Would you know what the value was at the time, in 1997?

Sorry, I would not. I tried Googling a bit in vain, and I cannot think of an online source. Perhaps someone who has bought the newest Rosler book can see if that information is published there.

Hey, it was a gift! You're not suppose to ask such things!

The latest catalogue I have with price list attached is from 1988 where the Classic is £45 (UK), but this was just at the point when MB were repositioning them selves as a luxury brand, and I think the one I bought in the early nineties was £60-70. I'm guessing that by 1997 it would have already been replaced by the Generations and the shop was still selling off its older stock.

Thanks so much for all the help Fred and sorry for the late reply. I was just curious! It was a gift from my husband.

Thank you so much. Mont Blanc pens have gone up in prices so much since the 90s. I am so glad I kept this one.
