Sorry about that being upside down - it's not on PhotoBucket... This is an excerpt of a post, because I had problems getting a good picture with my web cam. It does give an impression though.

I have my theories... finding better posture. Need to bend close to the paper as my eye sight is impaired. As weird it might sound, but I like handvriting in spite of that :)

I do a LOT of writing, and experimenting ... tonight I watched some YouTube videos from the OpenInkStand and got inspired to just make up stuff, and loosely pattern what I saw from that YouTube channel ... Here's the results of tonight's practice:

httpmom: Your handwriting looks great !!! Please share, I'm intrigued, What pen's did you keep - that you have now?

 

AAAndrew ... I envy you ... you are getting better ... I'm wondering what flex nib that is ?

 

TheArctic: I do not know how to give advice at all ... but I would say try to relax, and just experiment a bit ... try different hand holds on the pen, styles, move arm for a set, plant the palm for a set, roll your hand to the side for a set, this style, and that style ... keep what you like and throw away the rest ...

So, I noticed that I got caught up in playing with different hooks on "g"'s and didn't write "think" but wrote "thing" instead ... LOL ...

 

Having fun ... and definitely hooked ...

Just playing a bit ... attempted to have minimal movements up- and down-wise directions just to see what it would look like. :-)

I have an iPad app that I've started using .... even with my finger ... to keep from wasting so much paper each night ...

 

this was from a few days ago ... before even my last two or three images ... this led to those most recent images ...

Platinum 3776

Pilot Decimo (from Japan)

Pilot Namiki Falcon with FS nib (from Japan)

Pilot Metropolitan x 4

Edison Nouveau Premium

Lamy Safari

 

Vintage Esterbrook J (flex nib)

Vintage Marbie Swan (flex nib)

Vintage Waterman 52 (flex nib)

 

BTW, I like you script experiments...it's good to find your personal style, after all that is the beauty of using a FP!

Used a brush pen not a fountain pen :rolleyes:

 

I wish they taught Maori from a young age in NZ. I'm realising how important and useful it is, especially in my "unrelated" biology degree.

Likewise, welcome to the thread. Several seem to be asking this question ... there will be much help as people contribute to sharing about this. I have ideas as well ... although I've only been here 3 1/2 weeks now. I bought Spencerian Theory and copy books from Amazon (bought together around $20 or so ... and I'm kind of in the middle of working through that, already making some personal modifications ... but the base forms for correct letters seems to be invaluable.

 

Below is my plug for this form of handwriting ... although Palmer and other methods are beautiful as well, (and perhaps easier to learn ... not sure ... converting bad habits and re-learning ingrained methods seems to be a common enemy for us all LOL). Anyway, I hope this helps in some way ... perhaps if nothing more, to just strengthen motivation.

Update: Great. Finally found one I love (Lamy Dark Lilac) but I can't get more. Ah, life in my inky world....
